2gig 400mhz to 4gig 333mhz

Hello,

I have an older nvidia nforce 4 board with ddr1 and I'm contemplating if upgrading from 2gigs dual channel to 4gigs dual channel would do much for me. The mobo would automatically set the DDR mhz to 333 if I were to run 4gigs. My questions is, am I going to see a performanc increase by running 4gigs at 333mhz dual channel or is my 2gig 400mhz dual channel a better option?

I'm looking for a performance increase in gaming and I don't wish to build a new computer at this point, I believe I can get another year out of my machine. Thank you!

well, 1st thing is to see if the hardware can support 4GB total. 2nd, you'll need a 64bit OS and programs to make use of that 4GB.

I can support 4gig. I'm not concerned with the 64bit OS, I'm ok with the 3gigs and change that I can run with.
