This is the nice Ultra Series memory (Orange heatspreaders), only problem is that they have it listed as PC2-5400, but with a DDR2-667 speed (5400 should be 675).

Link
$157.40-$5 coupon (can be found on Slickdeals Forums - Link) + Shipping (+$1 insurance) = Mine came out to $158.56 shipped via UPS Ground.

Overclocking Results - According to hwupgrade.com they were able to get this memory past DDR1000, which was about the same they got the the Mushkin PC2-6400 and the Cellshock PC2-6400.

Edit: Got my kit of memory today (Friday 3/9), looks like it shipped directly from Geil (in CA) via Fedex 2-Day Express Saver. I have the memory running fine at DDR1000 @ 5-5-5-15

I've dealt with them 1 time last year, but it was for a price mistake, lol. They were the company that had the 2gb of Crucial Ballistix pc4000 memory for $50.

lol, no, it was listed on all the Hot Deals sites, so everyone ordered it. They would have been selling them at 15-20% of retail price.

Here's the Hot Deals listing on Hardforums - Text (looks like it was Mushkin Red Line, not Crucial Ballistix, oh well)

Isn't 3-4-4-8 very , very good latency? Specially at those high speeds?

Yes, it is VERY GOOD. It is exactly what I wanted for my E4300.
Thanks Lukeman, I went ahead and bit anyway. You can also get this for $165 + Shipping from GEIL if you are worried about ComputerHQ. However, ComputerHQ took Paypal, so I got it from them.

I got the 4300 also. But this memory wouldn't do me much good with my ecs p4m800 MB. Maybe this and the DS3 on sale would work great.

I was reading the specs at Geil's site and came across this: 'Hand-Picked Chip, 1.9-2.3 Voltage'. Does this mean that if I got 2 sticks, one may need 1.9v and the other 2.3v to operate at the stated timings??

no, it just means that it needs that voltage to be run successfully in your system, with 2.3-2.4v preferred (according to the review)

I noticed in the review link shown by the OP that it said this memory used Micron D9 chips. I decided to contact Geil to find out what chips they actually use. Here is their reply:

For the GX22GB5300SDC, we're using Elixir, Eudar, Elpida as well as Micron D9. Different batches the chips used on them also vary. I believe the current batch is using Elixir which is a decent OC'er but of course, none can come close to the D9's. Currently, only on the GX22GB8500P4DC and GX22GB9280PDC are using all Micron D9's from every batch, but quantities are very limited.

If they run like I want them to run, then I'll be ordering another 2gb of this stuff this week.

Only stick of DDR I've had that has died on me was Geil. I don't buy them anymore. Sorry to be so negative, but that stick didn't even last a year. Thought I'd share my experiences for those thinking about picking up some.

Crucial/Micron has died on me, as did Kingston (don't know what brand chips). They both covered shipping both ways and got them back to me promptly. Every brand has it's flaws, although it's most times user error (prolonged overclocking/overvolting does indeed shorten lifespan). The question is, how is their service? Did geil honor the lifetime warranty?

DAMMIT! I just called these guys because my status has been stuck on "drop ship - awaiting tracking info" for the last two days. I am pissed because:
1) I though it would have shipped by at least yesterday (I was hoping for Mon). It still hasn't shipped.
2) I paid tax (in NC) because they are based in NC so I thought it would at least ship from somewhere on the East coast - WRONG - it's going to ship from California

Not as good as the 4-4-3-5 I run my Super Talent at :)

The review on these say the Geil Ultra can run at 3-3-3-4 @ DDR667 (PC2-5300). I have mine running at DDR1000 @ 5-5-5-15 right now. I'm picking up my Firestix from the UPS Center today and I'll see how well they do.

So what is the actual diff in the real world between 4-4-3-5 and 3-4-4-8 and good old 5-5-6-12 or 15 ?
1 to 3% tops? Anyone ever get 10 or 20% improvment with this stuff?

Just want to warn you guys about Geil's non existant customer service should you ever need to use it. I had some value ram from them that died after two years, and contacted them about getting them replaced because their memory has a lifetime warranty. It took weeks just to get a response and an RMA number. After I sent my memory in, I only heard from them once, and that was when I was checking up on them to see when the hell they were going to ship my replacement memory back, since my tracking showed they received the item weeks prior. They said my RMA didn't exist, and future attempts to contact them were met with no response. Their forums are useless as well. Just people there complaining about how they never see their memory again after RMA'ing it.
