2GB DIMM performance

I'm putting together a new rig: Core 2 Duo 63/6400, a 320MB 8800GTS, not sure of the MoBo yet... probably Asus or Gigabyte (when it's out) 650i variant.

As for memory, I'm looking at the G.Skill 2GB DIMMs Newegg offers. (2GBx1, just to be clear.) Timings are about 5-5-5-15.

Does anyone have experience with these or other 2GB DIMMs? I was initially wary of the G.Skill name, but I've read up, and they seem to be lesser known, but respectable.

From what I can tell, memory timings are generally not the performance bottleneck in a system, and at most I'm interested in mild overclocking. Will I be able to do even that with a system like this?

You should easily be able to get a couple of hundred megahertzs extra out of the core 2, as to the memory it depends on the speed if it is ddr2 667 then it will run into problems before your chip (though you can always change the ratio in the bios), ddr 2 800 or faster would make things easier. Also I assume you are getting 2 of those Dimms? For four gigs? If not you wont be running in dual channel and your memory bandwidth will be crap.
