2D image quality theory

Well it's probably not a theory. I'm no expert, but after reading around 50+ notes on Geforce3 image quality I came two two conlclusions.

A: Some monitors can make some videocards look sharp& clear
where as other monitors will blur with that same videocard.
B: The videcard will blur on any monitor.

I plan to get a hercules 3D prophet III as soon as they make more of them. I currently use what I think is one of the higher end monitors. It's a hitachi superscan 813, this monitor can do insane resolutions.

The monitor has a Video clock frequency of 250mhz.
Can do 1920x1440 at 75hz. I use 1024x768 which it can do 140hz. So does anyone know how this can effect the image quality like reading text, icons, imaging? All 2D stuff.
Hitachi is well known for making monitors that can produce sharp clear pictures.

So for me you think 3D prophet will look nice is sharp on my monitor ?

Well 1024x768 isnt a terribly high resolution, especially not on a 21" monitor. So with a resolution like that even if your video card has poor 2D it shouldnt be 'too' bad.
The problems with the NVidia cards 2D generally starts becoming just barely noticeable at 1024x768 and really only bothersome at resolutions higher then that.
Should be fairly good, and the fact that your monitor is reasonably high end will help out somewhat also.

Awesome monitor Galvin! I have the Superscan 812 paired with a Geforce 1 DDR. I guess the Geforce 1 DDR dodged the blurry 2d... I don't know, but mine looks incredibly crisp and clear all the way to 1600x1200. I attribute this mainly to our monitor choice though, the Superscan series are shadowmask monitors, which are really great at displaying text/etc. I don't know which GF3 you should get, but if I were buying one now I would try to find the best one since they all cost a pretty high ammount.

There is absolutly nothing a monitor can do to improve a poor video signal from a video card. The monitor is simply an amplifyer of the video signal.

Exactly what type of problems occur at resolutions higher than 1024x768?

I plan to buy a GeForce2 MX and an IBM E74 (17-inch, 15.9-vis).
