2D Final Fantasy turned 3D

I think FF3 is my favorite.

I personally liked the Phantasy Star series, esp. PS1 and PS2, PS3 sucked, and PS4 was good.

I also liked Golden Sun, FF7, and Skies of Arcadia.

While I enjoy the 3D rpg's, the 2d ones seem more fun to play... maybe it's because I was raised in the 2D video game era.

so what system are FF1-6 running on? I think I got it that FF7 runs on the PS/PS2 and the later versions too..

also can anyone tell me some good RPGs for the Dreamcast? I recently got one and the only decent RPG I have is shenmue (shenmue2 I think...)

I've been playing since 1995, when Chrono Trigger was released. Damn, that was a sweet game. That's the one that got me hooked on RPG's for 7 years!

However both FF10 and Chrono Cross were IMHO mediocre FF9 was better but not great.

FF8 was so bad I barely finished the first cd.

Honorable mention does to Secret on mana which is excellent in it's own right and should probably be second on that list.
Xenogears was also quite enjoyable as were the first two breath of fire games. (first being better than second)

I didn't play FF10. Chrono Cross was really meh for squaresoft, especially being the sequal to such a sweet game, but really lacking in some areas. Especially the final boss!!! FFVIII is my favorite FF. I seem to be one of the only people to think that. One of my friends think that as well. Xenogears was good, but the dialog wasn't done very well and you had to go searching for party members around towns and stuff way too often. I got bored of it around late first disc and sold it.

I thought VI and VII were the best

IMO they also had the best music out of any rpg out there

Phantasy Star IV IMO was the best RPG i've ever played

FFX was good FFVIII was definitely the worst i have not tried I-V though but for sure FFVIII is definitely the worst of the series
