i want to get the 2900xt when it comes out put i saw a pic that showed both an 6 and 8 pin connector for power. First thught that came to mind when i saw the pic was 'Crap!' Do i need to upgrade my psu? buy an adapter cable(if such a thing exists)?

I currently have a TT Toughpower 700w psu

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the card functioned properly with just 2 6-pin connectors used so I don't think you'll need another PSU.

Yea i read it too the card works with 2 6pins but if u want to enable maybe Overdrive to overclock ur card then maybe u need the 8 pin instead.... normally it should run with 2 6pins though.

I was under the impression there might be some sort of adapter. However, I could be talking out of my arse. Can anyone confirm this?

edit: just did some googling and found this informative thread.

"The R600 video cards should include an adapter that adapts two PCI-e connectors to one 8-pin connector..."

So you could use the two pci-e power connectors with an 8 pin adapter, and then use 2 molex connectors with a 6 pin pci-e adapter.
