Yes if you're going single aftermarket is the way to go.

If you go dual card on a dual slot board, stick to reference or water.

Tomorrow ill have the definitive answer to this. I have a FT02 case verticle mount with better air flow and ill know if you really need Reference Coolers in SLI or not.

Mmm, people without $1000 worth of GPUs?

Probably those that will benefit most are people with low- to mid-range hardware. That is if AMD ever decides to release the Mantle patch.

:D

1 GTX 780 clocked at 1300mhz would likely hit 70-90 FPS on it own?

it will be good to hear your results although i think your case is the best scenario. Will you have a slot free between the gpus too?

FT02's work great with reference designs. The Windforce is not really ideally suited for being stood on it's end because of the heat pipes that face directly down from the GPU.

They did the heat pipe on its side routine tests with inverted motherboards and cpu fan assemblies. This will come down to airflow.

Just went from a 280x CF setup to a 780 Ti and I'm in love. Less noise, heat and just a simple setup.

Cool, what models were the 280x's and the 780 Ti? Been looking into adaptive vsync and target frame rate, interesting features....

Both those seem like good card designs... The 780ti oc'd is often as fast as two 7970s/280s so i can imagine that the ti is a better experience with much better minimum frame rates.... Its a tough decision... Depends on what the 290x performs like with mantle, i wish they would hurry up and demo it properly so we can analyse its performance and potential... I'm very interested in how mantle affects power consumption.....

Guys, just found this link with fan rpms at idle. Obviously cooler design has an affect on noise but there is no way ~1500rpm at idle will be quiet, fine for gaming but crazy for idle. I returned my EVGA 780 acx as it idled at 1300rpm which was too noticeable..., how can anandtech say the tri-x is silent! Their review was pushing me towards a tri-x despite the two year warranty but after finding this out there is no way!
