will OM PM their own website? or are these products not likely to be in stores still?
I'd grab one of these if i could verify it was a liteon...

Even if the company is gone, if the product is defective Officemax will exchange it within certain time period. If the product goes bad in a year or two...well by then DVD/CD combo burners are going to be the item to get...so forget getting warrenty service! I'm sure this forum will help you purchase a great DVD/CD combo burner with an awesome deal.

Oh, did I mention this forum kicks a$$?

Here are some reviews, but please double check the drive itself to make sure it is a Lite-On. The reviews said CenDyne was using Lite-on drives at the time of review, but could have changed manufacturers.

CenDyne Lightning IV 48/12/48 CD-RW - Based on the LTR-48125W from Lite-On.
CenDyne Lightning III 40/12/48 CD-RW - Based on Lite-On's LTR-40125S.
CenDyne Lightning II 32/12/40 CD-RW - Based on Lite-On's LTR-32123S.
Pacific Digital 48x12x48 IDE Internal CD-RW - Liteon LTR 48125W
Polaroid 48x16x48 - made by btc

I have a CenDyne Lightning III 40/12/48 CD-RW and it is a Accesstek/Optorite. Piece of crap. Didn't work well out of the box, got a firmware update from Cendyne a month later, worked better for a few months, now it burns coasters about 33% of the time. So be careful.
I have a old LiteOn 12X CDRW at home and it's still reliable as hell.....

Not going to try and go too off topic, but went to my local OM tonight since all of these burners were N/A online. Ended up with the IOMagic, but the store was still @ $49 before rebate for it.... the Cendyne 16X DVD-ROM is in their flyer for $29AR. YMMV, but if you get a competent/courteous sales associate and explain that the rebate is invalid and most likely will NOT be honored since Cendyne is no more, then you might be able to score it for the AR price w/o having to deal with the rebate...

Wow, both the 40x and 48x to pick from. Hopefully there's liteons. I use a Cendyne Verbatim 40x12x48x. Basically a Liteon clone. Very wonderful; most reliable burner I have.

My dad has a 48x Asus (they ran out of Liteons). It's all right, but when I tried to do a burn from my 16x48x DVD as a CD reader, it only wanted to burn at 32x. And yet, this DVD ROM feeds my Verbatim fast enough.

Pretty nice deal if you use a $10 off $10 coupon and manage to get a Liteon for $19.

i tried the cendyne but as usual it's all oos. to think bout it, the price came out to be aroudn 37-38 after tax and delivery cost.
you are better off getting a lite-on 52x for $40 shipped thru newegg.

I wouldn't try a PM unless you find a dumb employee. Office Max policy is not to price match with clearance items. They will pricematch any other stores prices, just not their own.

The Pacific Digital drives we have at my local OMAX appear to be non-liteon's

I bit on this deal, and scored the 48/12/48 Cendyne Lightning IV at OM in Atlantic Center, Brooklyn NYC. Now, how do I figure out if I got lucky and scored a Lite-On?

EDIT: Holy crap; I opened the box, and it turned out to be a 48/*16*/48 drive! Surprising, to say the least...what does that mean?

EDIT 2: DAMMIT; it appears I got an Optorite. Back to the OM for a quick return, mayhaps? ^_^
