Its damn hot at 69-69-71-68 load, but when i game its about 60-61-64-60 @ 60% load.

Mine is at 2.0Ghz with 1.025 vCore
1.00v isn't stable. :( The i7 920 I briefly had would do 3Ghz with 1.00v. :(

These chips should be able to hit 3.3GHz with a decent MB and 1.31Vcore. My IP35-E runs out of gas around 3.3GHz. The Gigabyte P45 board with good NB/PWM cooling is good up to about 3.7GHz if you have a quality chip.

My northbridge is crazy hot with my overclock. It has a decent heatsink on it. This is quite normal, right?

Yeah it's normal, because the engineers from gigabyte, have some brain issues and have always used, for the budget boards, very little tiny heatsinks on the NB, that aren't capable to dissipate the heat as they should. I wouldn't overclock a quad on that P45 without strapping a fan on the NB. A 60mm fan should be fairly easy to attached there. Try it, since it might improve your oc.

Put a 92mm fan above the RAM and NB region. This should provide plenty of cooling to overclock a quad. No need to spend $ on big fancy heat pipe cooler.

A hot NB will result in system instability. If you cannot touch the hottest part of the heat sink for more than 30 seconds, then you need to explore active cooling option.
