2800+ XP Barton ?

I just set up my new rig using the 2800+XP Barton CPU with a Soyo KT-400 Ultra mobo and I can't figure out how to get the processor to run at the 333Mhz FSB that it is supposed to. The bios only lets me manually select up to 255Mhz. Can anyone give me some insight on this? Also, I am running 2 sticks of Crucial 256MB PC2700 Ram, what is the Mhz speed of this RAM? Which ram is equivalent to 333Mhz?

I believe you are looking at the actual mhz that the mem is running at. To get the DDR frequency you multiply by 2. So the speed you want to set it at is 166 for DDR 333 speeds. When you see 333 on the box, that is a marketing trick.

Anywho, what is the equivalent Mhz to PC(2100,2700,3300) or however many different versions there are?

What is the CPU multiplier used for? Are any of you guys running a similar rig? What do you have it OC to?

PC2100 = 2x133mhz = 266mhz
PC3200 = 2x200mhz = 400mhz

The CPU multiplier is the number you multiply the FSB speed to get the CPU clock speed.

For Example, my Athlon XP 1800+ has a default multiplier of 11.5 and an FSB of 133 so my clock speed is 1530 mhz or 1.53 Ghz. This is most often said as 11.5*133, Multiplier*FSB.

exactly what he said...

so your PC2700 = 2 x 166 = DDR333

you prolly can't o/c too much on your fsb so in order to get higher speeds, you'll have to up your multiplier...

so at stock speed.. your processor should be at : 12.5 x 166 = 2.08 ghz

leave your fsb at 166 or you could probably get up to 180? maybe... if you relax the timings with your ram...

up your mult to 13 so now you have 13 x 166 = 2158 mhz which is the same speed as a barton 3000+

and keep adjusting your mult and fsb until you can't get any higher....
