27" Samsung 275T+ or Dell 2709W

I'm considering a 27 inch widescreen LCD and can't make up my mind between the two models.
The Samsung 275T+ is $899 at Newegg and the Dell 2709W is $999 at the Dell website. The specs seem pretty similar on both models and they use the same Samsung LCD screen. I'm leaning toward the Samsung because I don't see anything that justifies $100 difference in price, unless I am missing something.

So my question is: Which would you buy? Any comments from users of these monitors are also welcomed. TIA

I have not used the Samsung but I have used that Dell and can say it is a very good monitor. Excellent color, view angle and easy to calibrate. This review says the component video is better on the Dell. Most others say the Samsung is a great monitor regardless.

You can get that Dell monitor for cheaper then $999 list. Dell usually has coupon deals that apply to monitors once in a while. I'd watch the hot deal forum. Usually you can do 15-25% coupon + 4% or higher cashback.

Thanks, dakels. I read the review and checked out their forum.

I think if I could get a coupon deal like you were saying, I'd be very happy with the Dell. I might hold off a short while if I could save that much.

I got my Dell 2709W from eBay (25% Live search cashback).

$849 shipped - $212.25 Live cashback - $8.49 CC cash back = $628.26

Couldn't be happier with this monitor. Beautiful screen, gorgeous colors, no input lag issues that I've noticed and more input options than I can possibly use. Coming from a Samsung 20" (204B) and the difference is amazing.

If you have any specific questions about the monitor just post here & I'll answer if I can.

Dell 2709W are on that ebay for $800. There is a cashback offer where people (including myself) are getting up to 25% cash back.

If you want to buy from dell directly, I don't think they have any current LCD deals on that specific monitor right now. The 2707 is on sale for $800 but not the 2709.

Wow! I've never purchased new electronics from eBay before, but that's a significant savings. Has anyone purchased such an item and had any problems?

I would wait and see with what DoubleSight comes out with. The DS-265W is supposed to be here soon with HDMI and Component input support, and an H-IPS panel. It will retail at a price very close to the former DS-263N, so probably around $700 and definitely no more than $800.

It is 25.5", not 27", but it will very likely be the best image quality you can get for the price.

I'd agree. I was gonna mention the doublesight 25" from personal opinion I think it's a fantastic screen equaling my favorite Apple Cinema Displays (which I think are all S-IPS?).

Just got a Dell 2707 for 699, one day sale at Dell. Awesome screen/viewing angles. Blacks are black, with no backlight bleeding whatsoever. Gaming is equally great (BF2, CS:S, Crysis, COD4, etc) with no noticable pixel lag. This one however doesn't have HDMI inputs, but that doesn't effect me.

That's awesome (***turns green with envy***).

Arrrgggh! You guys are killing me! I'm getting ready to buy a 24" or bigger display but am budget constrained. Probably no more than $500.
