It's much more disturbing that 47% of Americans believe that humans were created <10,000 years ago. Belief in intelligent design is understandable considering the ignorance of most people, but this is just ridiculous.

Meh. They can do what they want as long as it's with private money

I don't get why a lot of you seem to think this is OK. In my mind, this would only be OK if schools were downright banned from letting their classes attend this laughable fun park. And it shouldn't be legal to label it a "museum" or imply that anything in it is remotely close to fact.

Please think of the children !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, we should all let our children choose to be complete fvcking morons. Believing in god is one thing, creation is one thing as well - believing that dinosaurs and the earth as a whole for that matter are all no more then 10,000 years old is assinine. I suppose you forgot to read the part where they talk about how the light of the stars doesn't really take millions of years to reach earth. The speed of light and modern astronomy has already proven all of these things as fact, there is no OPINION on these kinds of things.

Yay, this post is more proof I can toss in the faces of the those telling me that only an extremely small percentage of christians believe in christian biblical creation as litteral. I am amazed how many of the non-litteral christian believers and non believers believe that. Fact is they are legion. lol

No not really. I don't know a single christian that is this stupid and I know a lot of them. The only "proof" this article shows about the percentage of christians that believe this is the "gallop poll". Do you know what a gallop poll is? These are the kind of polls conducted on the phone or at the mall. The only people that actually take them are people who have NO LIFE. If you could somehow poll every christian in the US these so called "stats" would most likely be a lot different.

Besides, I still think this is fake - no way could this actually be being constructed

When the Gallup Poll asked people about their views on the subject last March, 47 percent of Americans polled said that God created humans pretty much in their present form some time in the last 10,000 years. That belief was strongest among those with less education, regular churchgoers, people 65 and older, and Republicans.

I'd really like to see the wording on that poll.

This 'museum' would be fine, as long as they included some sort of disclaimer. Something like:

This facility portrays a faith based world history. It completely ignores or all scientific evidence and theories based on rational thought. The makers of this museum believe the bible is a literal history. Science would have you believe the bible is merely a collection of allegorical stories created by wise and pious men whose paths crossed with one Jesus H. Christ of Jerusalem (Our Saviour). They also hold that these allegorical stories were created merely to give you direction in how to best live your life in a good (as in versus evil) way rather than living your life in a way that precludes rational though in the face of evidence.

The good book is a good book. It isn't a history. Smarten up people.

So, you believe that an "extremely small percentage" of christians believe in christian biblical creation as litteral? I am sure you don't believe that. BTW went round and round on this already in another thread and proved that people that believe that are uninformed at the least.

It isnt fake. It isnt new either. Kent Hovind did the same thing with his christian Dino World park albeit that probably only cost him a hundred thousand at most. That is why they call him Dr. Dino. This new museum will be espousing the same stuff kent hovind teaches who is currently serving 10 years in prison for tax evasion among other things.

The proof is a Gallup Poll, not a gallop poll. Google for Galup and you'll see that they are a research company which makes their living doing statistical research. They take into account sampling biases.

There are plenty of other stories about it. I just love when people call shens without bothering to do a simple google search.

seems like you could convert more people to Christianity and do more good in the world that way.

i guess they're just better christians than me.

Yes, and they obviously know how to spend their money in more appropriate, Christian-like ways.

I don't believe in Poll's of any kind personally, thats simply because I never participate in any of them, nor do I know anyone who does. And still, its my belief that the only people who DO participate in them are the people with no life. Not to mention the people who will scew the stats on purpose. If I was to ever take one, I'd answer everything opposite my real opinion, just for the hell of it.

But I'm sorry, I did call shens because I was going to give the people building said "museum" the benefit of the doubt and hope they really aren't this retarded. I realize my mistake now since there are obviously many who are this utterly and totally frickin retarded.

I'll just stand by my original argument then, allowing schools to take their classes to field trips at this so called "museum" should be against the rules. If parents want to take their kids and make them dumber, so be it (I guess) but schools should not be aloud to bring kids in there as education.

I think the "Christians" they interviewed were selected for their beliefs to make the #'s look better for the study. I have yet to find someone that believes in this crap, and i work at a place that has a lot of devout 3x a week, church going Christians.

And as far as your facts go, (puts fingers in ears) I'm not listening. LA LA LA LA LA LA

What do you mean you don't believe in polls? Exit polls for voting are very accurate and they surely don't ask everyone who votes. It's a very well studied and nailed down branch of mathematics. And people like you who would purposely answer like that are taken care of in the statistics. The polls are given with an accuracy of say +/- 5% 19 times out of 20 kind of thing.

Please tell me you're joking.

No.

What's to joke about?

Science hasn't proved Darwinian evolution and in fact, the more science learns about our world the more it disproves Darwinism. Of course, if you know Darwinism, you'd also know he said his theory -- granted completely full of holes then, was just that, a hunch and would hopefully someday be proven. And it hasn't, so having a museum supporting Darwinism, which is scientifically false, is no different than the more appropriately termed, Genesis museum.

Please remember that there are 47% percent of PEOPLE (yes, breathing, living people) that supports this "fact". I wouldn't be surprised if some of them managed to find their ways on to these forums.
