27 hour shift

i just got up from a 5 hour nap after a 27 and a half hour shift....

man, im still beat, but need to muster some energy to get my drink on, and make the ladies smile

I hope you get paid well.

yeah right, its residency.... im salary, and when its all said and done, it works out to like 3$ an hour... but it will pay off when im done with residency

Being a doctor is probably the most admirable profession. Who else would would dedicate so much of their time and put in that much hard work?

this is true, i dont do it for the admitation, but alot of people think its just an easy way to make the $$, but actuality, ill be 32 before i practice. also, i will have put in ridiculous hours for the last decade. there are alot of easier ways to make cash, but it sure is nice to see someone smile and thankyou after you have helped them...

Really awesome doctors live in poverty and inhuman conditions for the first quarter of their working lives. Then they reap the financial rewards only after it stops meaning anything to them. A good number of them start to resent the poverty and inhumanity and make patients pay for it (literally) after they're done with that.

My dad used to steal bread from his residency hospital's break room when he was working there. He's always been cheap, but from his stories of med school, I can't see anyone actually WANTING to subject themselves to that type of situation.

Now he's been practicing (first in family medicine, now in occupational medicine) for almost 30 years. He loves every minute of his job.
