Hi, looks like you're shopping at Bestbuy? Out of those 3, I'd pick the Magnavox...

But for $249.99, they have the Toshiba 27A43 which is an AWESOME TV. Just look at the back panel connections and remote control of the Toshiba vs. those other 3. Not to mention the 3-line digital comb filter.

in my opinion a sony wega is worth a $100 more. sony wega uses a flat picture tube which creates a much nicer and sharper picture than a round picture tube tv. you don't necessarily have to get a sony wega to see the difference, you just need a tv that says it has a flat picture tube. just go to your local electronics store and compare a flat picture tube to a round picture tube tv, trust me, you'll notice a difference.... especially watching dvd's.

you can usually get a good cheap brand flat tube 27" tv for around $250, check out
Apex 27" at CC

Yes Sony Wega is worth every penny.
It uses a WEGA = Flat Display + Trinitron Tube. With 3 line comb filter, the tv is very crisp to the viewing eye.

Traditional TV tubes are obsolete IMO.

out of 4 of those choice, i would pick "none of the above" and just save some more money for something better.

wow, can't believe a million people aren't flaming you for this being in the wrong forum, but I'd suggest JVC, Sony, Toshiba, in that order. Don't underestimate JVCs.

Depending on the situation, but if you don't need a new TV urgently, I would hold off and waith for an HDTV. Either way you look at it prices are comming way down. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get an HDTV under $500 in about a year.

Agreed. I am surprised nobody is flaming the poster. :Q That said, Sony WEGA is really overhyped.

Almost all good Full Flat TVs have 3 line comb filter etc. I prefer the JVC over the WEGA. The Sony XBR on the otherhand is a wee bit better, but is worth the extra money ...dunno.

after seeing the Samsung TV's and the sony Wega's side by side I like the Samsung MUCH better. the similar priced 32" ones were night and day to me the Wega had black lines inbetween and the samsung (though EDTV I think) was clear as a bell and the same price.

As said before, CC will have Apex PF2720/2725 FLAT screen 27" for well under $250 on sale or with giftcards or PM quite often. Mine was about $210 if I remember correctly, and the image quality will pwn those TVs you listed. Plus it's flat.

I picked one up in December. With good adjustments, the picture looks comparable with respect to color, to that of my old cylindrical Trinitron 27". The base resolution isn't there, but the color reproduction and overall image quality is.

The Apex unit also has tons of inputs (including component) and better sound. I think there are 6 input sets. The remote is cheeeeeesy though. Budget for a programmable.

Of course, there is the issue of that little "APEX" badge on the front of the tube. But I love mine unless it breaks.
