27.3 MPG

Im averaging 27.3 mpg on this tank in my 2008 CRV AWD. Previously, I was only averaging 21-23 mpg because I was speeding often. I've been driving slower and more conservative on this tank; I filled up 3 days ago.

I might have to keep this up; these numbers are making me very happy.

that's a bit increase just from being light with the right foot. i didn't achieve nearly that trying to do the same. so i shifted my commute to times that the freeway wasn't jammed.

CR-V's get great mileage. My sister had a '99 with a manual transmission, and she got 30 mpg on a road trip to Florida with 4 people + luggage in it.

UK has a diesel version. It also has HID's and a bunch of other cool features/options that we don't have here in the US. Honda's UK website says their diesel model gets 43.5 mpg.

Their fully loaded CRV is also around $50k-$60k (per UK HONDA website)

Our fully loaded model is about $28K.

i wish we could also get the new jeeps with diesel engines over here. 4 wheel drive, plenty of room for 4 people and luggage and average well over 30 MPG. i would buy one in heart beat if they sold them over here.

Yea, I cross shopped the CRV with the Wrangler, among other SUV's. The main reason why I did not go with the Wrangler was because of that horrible gas milage (15/20). I didn't like the interior either, and I thought it wouldn't be comfortable as a daily driver; but I would have overlooked that if the mpg was better.

theres no point; everyone already subscribes to your mullet newsletter

I agree, mine is better. If getting better MPG out of your Honda is what you enjoy doing with the thing then the more power to ya. When I go to the Corvette Forum or LS1GTO I see everybody on there bragging about doing the same thing all the time, so I'm hip to the MPG craze that's going around.

MPG efficiency isn't really a priority of mine. I guess Im just caught up in the mpg craze like everyone else is and I notice myself paying a little bit more attention to it lately.

Just achieved a personal best of 31.34 MPG in my 2003 Accord V6 yesterday. I emitted less smog, but more smug. 😉

I bet you're starting to carry around an empty wine glass too now 'just in case' ehh? You efficient people make me sick.

I have to commute right now about 104 miles round trip on the interstate and I've been going 65mph the whole way (70mph limits) I'm still getting my doors blown off all day long. I'm really surprised more people aren't slowing down. I'm getting 27.5mpg in a nine year old Buick Regal with the 3.8l V6 at that speed.

Nice numbers. Just changing your driving style makes a HUGE difference.

I am averageing 28.9 MPG 90/10 (hw/cty) in my 1996 Crown Victoria with the 4.6L V8. I drive 65 MPH and set the cruise. I hit 30 mpg over a 600 mile trip in FL back in 2003. Not bad for a 4,000 LB RWD car with a V8 engine. 😉

It's funny to watch people ride your ass, then pass you and accerate to a light that is already red 30 yards away. You know the gas prices are killing them. 😀

That's probably imperial gallons though which is almost a full liter more than a US gallon.

No doubt 😉

While the OP is no doubt doing well, the Toyota Prado here, which is a big 8 seater, full ladder frame, full-time AWD and proper transfer case low-range 4WD with superb off-road capability, gets almost 26mpg combined with the turbo diesel...and I've no doubt you do better if you babied it.

The Landcruiser, a much bigger vehicle again, in V8 diesel guise, which gives you a massive 195kW/650Nm, is listed by Toyota as a combined almost 23mpg...

I know people with 70's & 80's trucks (1/2,3/4,1 tons which are alot heavier vehicles) getting in the mid 20's with a 4BTA Cummins. There are even Broncos that hit 30 or more.
