2600+ Barton!

I just picked up one of the Fry's dealie's of the week: a FIC KT-748 and OEM Batron 2600+. And it's unlocked, I've got it running at 12x166!

I'm using low-end PC2700, so can't....unless I pull one of the 512Mb PC3200s out of my main system. But that would drop me to 1 gig, so it ain't gonna happen.

it would drop you to 1 gig...lord help you 😉

Tell me how high it will go with the 166 fsb. I love stories of other peoples overclocks on any 2600+, since mine can go all the way from 2133 to 2145 and crash at anything higher 🙂.

A Barton 2600? What are the specs on that? Have you checked to be sure the full 512k cache is enabled?

What week is it? Did you take pictures so you can share the full stepping info with us? Would be interesting if they were making some new XP2600 Bartons that could overclock to say, 2.4 Ghz on default voltage 😀

Barton 2600+s are 1.9ghz by default, 11.5 X 166 multiplier and fsb.

2.4ghz on default voltage is probably a bit of a stretch 😉. They are locked multiplier (had a week 41 one a few weeks back).

It is nice to dream though 😀

Here's a CPUz screen capture. As I recall, it's a AQXDA, 0317. I'll take a picture of it in a few days, and if I have time, I'll do some serious OC testing on it.

See my sig. I haven't tried running it at a higher FSB because it's fast enough. I got a 2600+ because I didn't want to risk getting a locked 2500+.

12x166 is not really anything special with an unlocked 2600, isn't it just better to use its full potential by getting a pc3200 memory? sell your pc2700 and get a new one because if you can truly get it to a multiplier of 12 and 200fsb then that would be really sweet

Unfortunately I'm going to have to sell the chip to a client, since I am unable to get the 2500+ contracted for, so I won't have a chance to see what kind of OC it can do. But I did pick up a 0344 locked Retail 2600+ that's running at 11.5x200fsb = 2305Mhz! I suspect this OEM 2600+ can do better, but that's the way the cookie crumples.
