260 1GHz celerons - RC5 for now...<UPDATED>

To further expand upon ECCp, you could set your computer as a proxy server for all the other computers to connect through. There is an option to set a proxy server address in the eccp109.ini file.

Then as kmmatney said, you only need to copy over the following files to all computers (+ the duplexing screensaver):

eccp109w.exe - client
eccp109.ini - client options
cygwin1.dll - enhanced client was compiled with cygwin, so you need this
userinf.txt - your info (can be created on first run of client, but it is easier for mass install to make it first. Then client can run unattended from the start)

It's YOU! I heard someone was comeing by the irc room with my name but wasen't me... Bartman is not in NZ.. he's sitting in my chair where he always has been!

The real,

This could cause some confusion however I have only ever used BartManInNZ in the irc room.
For a time it was BartManGoingToHolland but I am back in New Zealand now it stay as BartManInNZ.

New Zealand has chairs as well, or at least they did the last time I was there. 😕😉

heh.. you realize that if you put all 260 machines on eccp, you'd be within the top 100 in 2 days.. and in the top 10 in less then 3 weeks..

BartManInNZ: It's sure be nice to see those machines cranking for TA. Sounds like each project can really use the help. I know we just lost a lot of production from one of our top 3 members (bazilla). Hope you can get it worked out! 😀

BartManInNZ - Can't wait to see those beauties tearing up the RC5 charts! Welcome, and THANK YOU 🙂 🙂 😀

As of 8am NZST the RC5 client has been allocated and at present I am averaging 34.5MKeys/sec! 😀 😎
I would love to run it 24/7 but the only way I can run it for now is in the background when the screensaver is running. Still this should average out to quiet a healthy key rate over a week!
Once I work out the SETI client and ECCp I will start them up over the next couple of weeks - probably use all the machines for each project and rotate them on a weekly basis.

You're running the RC5 client in screensaver mode, but it is not necessary.
If the client is configured correctly, it won't interfere with any program (maybe an odd DOS one, but he).
It will only eat the left over cycles and that would be about 80-90% of the cycles when someone is typing. Maybe 75% if it is a fast-typer. 😀

Don't know if the agreement you have stipulates the screensaver only option.
If not, I would try and run the client in stealth mode and in low gear. It would get you 'much' more WU's (depending on the time they are running the screensaver).

I'm talking out of experience, as can a lot of others here.

Peter.

PeterN:

I can see your point - I will reconfigure the client to start in the runservices part of the registry with the following option: -quiet this should work shouldn't it?

Welcome to the TeAm! 🙂

RC5 is a good choice I think, and it will be ending before too long (*knock on wood*)

As you can see here only 1 year MAX 🙂 Until the keyspace is exhausted 🙂 🙂

I am currently running 4 DC projects without any real slowup. 3 of them run quietly hidden; while SETI runs active 🙂

Also another point. If you have used the flex installer; then search for a program called w9xsrv; that program lets you start any program hidden. I just run a few instances of it and away I go 🙂
