Are you saying this Viewsonic HDTV will not work with HD DVD becuase it only has DVI with HDCP (content protection) but no HDMI?

Viewsonic N3200w

Does anyone have any opinion on what looks better, 720p or 1080i? I would think the progressive scan would look a bit crisper than the interlaced picture.

DVI w/HDCP is the same as HDMI except without the sound. As long as HDCP is there you should be OK.

FYI, I saw this same TV at TARGET for $349 in store.
People are also finding display models & open box for around $245 but YMMV.

🙂

this be good to put next to my LCD so I can watch movies DVD's or something from my puter? Like 3-4 feet away?

Target yea I need to look there too.

I'm running a 30" Wide Samsung HDTV that's similar to this. Progressive Scan (480p) DVDs look amazing. I pretty much only use it for DVDs and Divx. Mine can handle upconverted DVDs to 1080i on the Component cables with my Norcent DVD player. My set refuses to do 720p though. Paid $699 or $799 (sorry memory is fuzzy) probably 2 years ago. $350-$399 seems like a fair deal for one.

If I were buying something right now I'd jump on one of the sub $1000 24"-30" widescreen LCDs with 720p DVI w/HDCP and sub 16ms response times. But for someone just looking to watch DVDs and cable/satalite NOW the deal looks pretty good.

Where are the open boxes ? Target also ? Or best buy, circuity ?

It's funny I saw this, because I just picked up this TV last night from Craigslist. So far the tv's pretty cool, really heavy, and I have trouble setting the right settings with the color/sharpness/brightness/etc..Help?

but yea, I'll be trying the HD tonight once i get my component cables for my xbox.

paid $200 used, but in "like-new" condition...so not bad

'Target' only.
I physically SAW one on display marked at $349(Redmond, WA store) & so have others in other cities, but I was looking to get the SHARP 26" HDTV LCD(the one on display) which I did for $509 OTD.
There's a discussion over on "Chubby Wallet" about both these TV's & a couple other models(most in the same topic). 'Target' is having big closeouts on TV's, but much is probably gone by now.
