Anyone using these and burning at 8x with Nec 2500A? My friend can only burn these discs at 4x. I'm wondering which firmware he needs to burn at 8x with this media.

Wondering the same thing.

I've found another beta firmware to try. link

vertamin is just a a brand name but who knows what manufacturer they use; probably low quality.

Isn't Verbatim made by Mitsubishi Chemical? It's supposedly recommended media for my 712A.

Anyone else have bad experiences with these? I just ordered a 50pk from NewEgg. 😕

$0.50 each is still a good price for these discs at 4x ? I know these are G04s...

(honest question)

Yep. Just bought a 100-pack of these from supermediastore.com for $49 shipped. Great discs.

I believe that RobCur is actually incorrect about that. Verbatim usually uses Mitsubishi Chemicals media, which is 1st-tier quality, as good or better than Ritek G04, IMHO.

I allready went through 50 of these disks and I havent had a single bad one yet. I fact I just just received 50 more today from Newegg at $24.99. Seems like the more people that order them, the lower the price goes. I went through a 50 pack of 4x verbatims and about half had errors near the end of the disk. I thought it was because I upgraded my 2500A's firmware to allow 8x burning on 4x media so I reinstalled the old firmware and still had problems. As soon as I started using the Ridata disks I never had a single one come out bad. Btw, I took the bad disks to Bestbuy (where I got them) and they gave me $5 back. Not much but better than nothing.

Nice, my total was $24.99. Yay for no taxes and free s/h! I've been using Memorex (reliable, but pricey since I buy locally when I need them), but I've heard such good things about Ritek and the price was so low I decided to jump on this.

thx op!

What about the dvd+r for $28.99?

these

or

these

these two for some reason are two different products and I can't tell the difference.

But are riktek's +r better than their -r?

So anyone buy these, and the ones that usually come in the red wrapping? Any differences?

I'm curious myself. I've gotten both kinds before, and both seem to have comparable reliability (in my experience). The "red wrapping" ones tended to be plain silvertopped, and the purple cake boxes have "Ridata" and some logos, etc. imprinted in Silver on the disk.

I just ordered these last weeks, tried it on my new (and first) 2510... 10 out of 10. Did the firmware hack to riplock the drive. These 4x with firmware update can easily burn at 8x without any coasters.

They are indeed G04 as what someone previously has said.

Also, never tried the red wrapping one.

Anyone have an idea what the difference between this and the red wrapped one?
