256MB and 512MB PC2700 for $15/$40 AR at BB

Got the info from FW, but thought I would post here:

256MB is online now 39.99-25rebate
512MB is local only 69.99-30 rebate


BTW: It is PNY brand. (Some Infineon, Samsung, and Spectek chips)
 
I picked up the 512MB stick today.

Best Buy is unbelievably stupid.

I got to the store at 11:15 AM (they opened at 11AM) this Sunday morning.

Well what do you know, there are only TWO 512MB sticks in stock for sale!
Best Buy lists good deals but stocks like 3 of the item. Unbelievably stupid.
 
I went in (OC, CA store) around 11:15 today too. Had plenty of both. At least 5 of the 256 MB ones. Some infineon, some others I cannot tell. The price tag listed on top indicated $99 with multiple rebates. But the ad said and it rang up $39.99 with $25 rebate. $85 in rebates would have made it quite risky... Maybe it was the $99 listing that no one was picking them up. But then again, $15 might not be that cheap nowadays...
 
kinda brag and moan, but if you're lucky you can get them to pricematch neweggs $55 price. I did at the Lakewood, CA store, and they said they're now accepting online pm's in-store. $55 - $30 pm = great for 512 PC2700 🙂 One per household, but get a 2nd "for a buddy" and get two sticks for $50 after pm 😉
 
If you pricemathced to an online stoe you are definately lucky. This does not happen in the stores where I am. Anyone have a coupon for BB?
 
How come no stores in IL PM with stuff online? That would be awesome. Just think of all the cheap and free stuff
 
Yes best buy is famous for that and don't forget no rain checks!!! But sometimes you can get lucky and get some....but I do have to say I have picked some up myself at the one is SD but went to get a HD and no luck...
 
I got a price match at my local bestbuy because they were all out. I have done this in the past too, all you have to do is ask.

I got the Infineon and it says right on the chip "Infineon".
The SpecTek chips are quite popular with PNY right now, they have a box with an angled S in it.

Try and get the Infineon, I have a SpecTek 256 stick (SpecTek brand) PC2700 that wont run at relaxed timings and 166MHz. In fact it won't even run by SPD.
It's going back to NewEgg as I write this.
 
I picked up two of the 256mb sticks yesterday at BB. I ran them each by themselves yeterday in memtest and they both produced errors. One stick errors out at 3mins into the program and the other produces errors on the 6th pass of the standard test. These will be going back to BB tonight.


NOTE: PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CHECK THESE STICKS IN MEMTEST BEFORE USING THEM

The rebates print out with the receipts. If they forget to give it to you, go to the store and tell them. If you buy online, click on the rebates under the price.
 
Spectek is the worst crap there is. I don't think you can find brand name memry that is so crapy. Samsung and Infineon are a great deal but Spectec is not worth buying.
 
well i went and got the spectek...

do you think it will run at pc100 speeds without errors? Thats all I need cuz its going in a duron machine...

I would have just gotten pc100 but this stuff was cheaper
