Just got back with the last stick at my local OD. I got it for $34.99 Ad - $20 off $50 and the $65.00 rebate printed at the register.

I get $28.00 back after rebate and tax.... :)

Same mailing address on the website vs the printed out version. Rebate, in that case, should be good to go! :D

I just got back from OD and they had 2 sticks of the PNY 256mb PC2100 DDR. The price on the shelf was $69.99. When I checked to see if they were single or double sided, I saw something strange. The chips were infinon and alternating on both sides of the board. Would this be considered double sided?

I SCORED, BIG TIME!

Office Depot is PAYING ME $34.00 to take two sticks of PNY 256MB DDR RAM out of their store. Here's the deal:

I went to the OD site and printed out a copy of the page showing the online price of $64.99 for the above-mentioned DDR RAM (SKU# 442827). I went to my local OD B&M and found two and only two of these sticks of RAM in the case, with a shelf price of $99.99 each. I asked to see both, and both had Samsung chips. I took both.

I proceeded to the register with my OD Web site print out in hand. I asked the cashier to ring them up on two separate orders. Then I handed her the print out from the Web and asked her to price match the $64.99 price. She didn't know how to do it, and called the manager for help.

Not a bit of trouble. The manager showed her how to put the PM in the register. So that saved me $35.00 each on the two separate orders and made the individual price $64.99 instead of $99.99.

I then handed her two of the "$20 off $50 Purchase" coupons. She keyed in the coupon code and it reduced the price to $44.99 each. Then, naturally, the register printed out the $65 MIR for each of the items, making it that once I receive the rebate checks, OD paid ME to take the memory off their hands.

Final cost for each separate order, with tax: $48.14. MIR = $65.00 each, so I paid $96.28 total and will be getting $130.00 in rebates.

Office Depot is PAYING ME $34.00 to take two sticks of PNY 256MB DDR RAM out of their store.

YES!

Most stores are out of stock and online shows backorder only. But here's a tip:

Call 1-888 customer service but don't order from them. They claim they can't (or don't want to) find the $64.99 web price. ($99.99 only) But, have them check real time store inventory for your area. Out of 5 stores they found one with remaining stock. Call the store immediately and have them hold it for you. Tell the store that the CSR refered you to their store and ask them if you bring in a web backorder printout if they'll honor the $64.99 price. (it appears "find item" #442827 is the only way you'll get to see a $64.99 "our price" on the OD website.) The store I called was very helpful and said they'd be happy to honor web pricing. Bring your $20 in store coupon.

I walked in the Tarpon Springs, FL store when they opened this morning and picked up one(w/Samsung chips) for $37.44. The rebate addies are different on the two forms folks. We MAY have another double dipping like the Maxtor hdd's a couple weeks ago.
I'm trying both. I'm a greedy SOB!
BTW...the store had at least one more stick when I left.

Oh well, i went and got into a boxing match with the manager at my od, heh, he finally let me have it for the 59.99 price, but no $20 coupon, but that's ok, i'm calling corporate on tuesday, and i'm sure they'll fix it. I got samsung chips, are the samsung chips better then infineon? or no? if anyone knows that is.

What 10%? I was in two OD's today. Did the PM and then the $20 off $50 in-store coupon for $44.99 before rebate. No mention of 10% off though.

When I went to the first store, the PM and coupon worked fine, but no register rebate receipt came up. I figured that I had the online rebate form, so no biggie. I went to the second store, did the same thing and my rebate form did print out at the register, but the CSR said that it was invalid because I bought the RAM at the $64.99 vs the in-store price of $99.99. He ended up keeping the rebate form and that sort of scares me a little. You don't think they would send these rebate forms with the transaction info into the rebate company to try and invalidate my rebate, would they?

The chips on the RAM from the first store were Infineon and Elixir (whatever the hell that is?) from the second store. The first store had extra when I bought the first stick, so I just went back to the first store and did an even exchange to get the RAM with Infineon chips.

Anyway.. Do you think I should worry about the CSR keeping my rebate form from the second store?

Sal:

There's nothing on the rebate that indicates what the price you paid must be to get the rebate. Here's a link to the rebate form on the Internet.

Before you go to all the trouble of calling Od Corp., Go to anouther local OD and ask them to adjust the price. Tell them that you forgot your coupon and this store is closer to you. Worked for me the other day on the Z45 with a PM, but I really did forget my coupon =P

just picked up the last stick at my local OD. no problem at all. handed her the 64.99 printout and the $20 off coupon, paid $48.50 after tax, and hope to get $65 back (damn express group :| ), for a total of -$16.50. Not too shabby ;)
