If it comes on stock in MC in Tustin... I will get it and post on this thread - been heading out to the area to watch NBA playoffs at the local coffee shops already anyways :sneaky:

When I went to Microcenter the salesman told me that they didn't have one out on display and he couldn't take one out of the box to show me... =[
Sales guy I got mine from hadn't heard of it (2560x1440 for $400 - no way...) Practically jumped at the chance to pull one out of the box and plug it in.

I might get one also. I am planning on using HDMI (desktop + laptop using one monitor via HDMI switch), and based on specs, HDMI 1.3 should be able to drive the monitor at the full resolution. I am curious to learn if anyone has already tried using HDMI to drive this baby at the full 2560 x 1440 😉

The reviewer states that HDCP works and it can display the full res with DVI or DP. If it weren't 5 hours from me I'd get one and check it out.

If they have an Apple product section... they have an Apple Cinema Display 27" with similar resolution in their store... just not at that price maybe,,,😀

damn, cali stores have them OOS.\

edit: you can order them online from MC as well. May do so.

They never stocked them in Calif MC... I've been compulsively hitting F5 on their website since I first found out about them... I even went down to the Tustin MC on Tuesday to see if they had them in stock...no bueno :'(... but I was down there to swap out an i5-3570k anyways...D:

From a user review on OCN, he stated he saw no quality difference between the MC display and the HP 27inch ($650-$700) in terms of visual quality that was reviewed on Anandtech... only thing he can't comment about is input lag because he's not a gamer...

I was very tempted to grab 2 of these to go 3x2560x1440 Eyefinity even though I don't need it, and even though my current Eyefinity array is already taxing on my GPU as it is. The multi-input is very important to me because of color calibration and cost issues (no need to buy dual-DVI to displayport adapters which are very pricey).

But then I heard today about how these panels might be going for cheap because LG is dumping off the last of its old-version IPS panels in preparation for flooding the market with IPS4 panels that might be even cheaper: http://www.electronista.com/articles/12/04/27/lg.intros.affordable.ips4.computer.monitors/
http://www.techshout.com/gadgets/20...monitors-take-ips-to-a-new-low-in-a-good-way/

As cheap as these A- grade LG panels are, I know I will be kicking myself if the LG IPS4 panels are even cheaper, so I will hold off for now and see what pricing is like for those. And I don't really need these right now, if I am honest with myself.

Btw, if you want this kind of monitor primarily for gaming, you may still want to get one of the Korean ebay panels with no scaler, as that means less input lag. Input lag is NOT response time, btw, in case some ignorant person is thinking about saying "but but this monitor has 6.5ms response time." Gray to gray response time shouldn't even count anyway, that's kind of cheating.

Edit: This may be important to those hoping for 100mm x 100mm brackets: "Wall Mount 75mm x 75mm"

Edit2: http://vernonchan.com/2012/05/lg-launches-ips4-monitor-series/ says that the price will be about $171 (RM to USD currency translated via google) for a 23" IPS4 panel with what LG claims will be better colors and color transitions. I have not heard anything about the 27" IPS4 panel price, though. LG claims that IPS4 will be priced more competitively with TN panels, so I am optimistic. I would be very tempted at, say, $300 for A- grade 27" 25x14 IPS4 panels, and $350+ if they had good input lag, response times, or were graded A or higher.

I just checked stock and they are in 70% of the MC stores now... they have one in Tustin,CA... but I'm still at work and traffic is going to be hell...D:

is this better than a catleap?

One user compared it side by side to his HP 27inch with various tests and see no difference in image... It is using the same LG IPS Display... but the MC one has HDMI, Display Port, DVI-D (Dual link), VGA.... if it has any defects like a dead pixel or off color contrast/brightness - can easily return to store...

Woah 6.5ms lag, It will not be smooth like CRT,,,,,,,, mouse will be laggy with vsync on, ....

nothing special about this cheap company. All LED mons are 5ms to 8ms ,, thats no good for FPS gaming...

Do you have first hand experience with it? LED is a backlighting, it has nothing to do with response. Besides, input lag != pixel response. Input lag comes mostly down to the electronics and image processing. This monitor will be fine for FPS gaming.

If I would come home with another monitor right now, I would be "monitored" by my wife! At best i'd be in the time out chair !😱

I am in the market for a larger display for my photography and want to know how the color accuracy of this monitor is.

Get a colorimeter. Few monitors comes with perfect color accuracy out of the box. X-Rite i1Display 2's can be bought for $75 or less on ebay.

While calibration helps, some monitors like the new up 27 inch does not have any osd controls and you are stuck with not much control over colors. What sod controls are possible?
