You will see a larger difference in performance by moving from a slower hard drive (like the Seagate Barracuda IV or a Maxtor D740X) to a faster drive like the IBM 120GXP or WD1200JB...than you will from 256Mb to 512Mb. Simply be replacing your hard drive, game levels will load 30-40% faster...you do not get that same benefit in moving from 256Mb to 512Mb RAM.

I use all of my 512, but I do photo editing and graphic work with 50-100MB files, so it really gets a workout when I am working with it for a long time...the extra RAM really helps. It also helps on certain games when it comes to load times. Also, most Crucial RAM works just fine at CAS 2, even though it's rated at CAS 2.5. I have mine at 2-2-5-2, with 140FSB, and it runs perfectly, and VERY fast. The aggressive RAM timings netted me a 5 percent performance boost across the board...and that includes real world performance.
