Nope, you wish it would be that easy. Try end price of close to $50.
Heck those clowns want nearly $10 to ship the stick (plus tax)!
Total $45.26 delivered.

also just noticed this on the crooks site:
Submit the rebate via Postal Service: "Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested"
What will be next requirement for rebate, Florida Attorney General verification?
Oh wait, they are too busy dealing with Tiger as it is.

So by the time you pay the post office charges, you will be close to $50 out of pocket.
"IF" you get the $30 rebate, it still ends up at close to $20.

Great rebate at tiger.
Wait 10 weeks, then submit rebate never showed form, then wait 10 more weeks processing before final denial.

Better to avoid these scammers and get a better deal elsewhere.
Buycom has PC2700 Viking stick for $20.93, free shipping, and after $15 rebate, $6 delivered without the need to go through the TD bull like "Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested".

Tiger Direct (As well stated here over and over) are crooks... Don't buy anything from them and you will be just fine.

Holy Crap!!! So you mean to tell me that everytime we post a deal on here we are supposed to calculate shipping, document fees (certified mail) and the percentage chance that you wont ever get the rebate??? Man, its amazing that any deals get posted here at all!! LOL. Seriously, if Tiger's not cool to deal with, then its a bad deal. No prob.

Many deals are posted because they ARE deals, including the memory deal at Buycom.
If I can sell you a new car for $10 is that a deal?
What if I charge you $80,000 shipping and fees?
Many companies ship for free, or nearly free. Some have ripoff shipping (Tiger Direct).
Most rebates are problem free, so no one needs to do anything special except toss a stamp on the envelope (except Tiger Direct according to their own rules!).

Everyone has their opinion on what a "Hot Deal" (forum title) is.
But generally, if you can buy something for about the same price everyday (yes, end price you must spend, after rebates, shipping and other addon fees required for you to complete transaction), then it is cold deal. Warm deal may save you 20%. Hot deal will save you 50% to 90% off everday price.

Everday price of 256 meg sticks is now under $25 delivered end price with no rebates, so this is a cold deal. When it comes from a company that has a track record of ripping off customers, it is an ice cold deal.

For TD, yes.

TD has very high shipping fees ($9.51 for ground shipping on this item to my zip code), and TD will only "guarantee" the rebate if you use a relatively expensive form of proof of mailing. TD has a very horrible track record of paying rebates, but luckily this is a manufacturer's rebate.

The deal works out as:
$32.99 + $9.51 shipping - $30 MIR = $12.50 AR for an iffy rebate that TD will not help with
or
$32.99 + $9.51 + $4.42 certified with return receipt - $30 MIR = $16.92 AR for a "guaranteed" rebate

Neither is anywhere near "$2.99AR" and the final price isn't that hot.

If any other companies gouged that badly on shipping, had a horrible rebate track record and put such a huge caveat on the rebate guarantee then I would criticize the "deal" in the same way.

Ok, I think we can all chill a little here.

First, Im not a Tiger Direct fan, never bought anything from them. Ive read the posts, so caution is definately in order. Again, no problem.

Shipping is definately outrageous at near $10. Again, no problem. However, a little more research shows that the rebate is not from Tiger, but from Viking themselves. Again, never delt with viking for rebates, so it still might be bad. I cant say, but Viking has been round for awhile.

So, if the Viking rebate is good, then the price is near $12 to 13. According to "RobsTV" if 256 mg sticks are going for $25 then thats a 50% savings, or a Hot deal by his definition. Even if you pay for the "guaranteed" rebate, then thats $16.92 or a savings of about 33% which places it somewhere between "Hot" and "Warm", again by "RobsTV" definition.

In short, my "tongue in cheek reply" was initially to superHARD who made the statement that he did when I clearly stated that the price listed was AR. I will conceed that I didnot include a statement about shipping, however, niether did he.

I dont need the memory. If someone does, then after all of these posts, there is certainly enough info for an interested ATer to decide if it works for him.
