Oops! I typed wrong amount: the 250 is, indeed, $67.

Lowest price on pricewatch.com is $66. And I am still very
impressed with the rating for west-tech.com. I'll keep that
in mind if choose to buy online in the future. Customer
comments are also excellent. If anything, I'm glad for this
post since I had never ratings-checked west-tech.com before...
Now I know.

Thanks again!

how many people use zip disks though? i mean every computer at my school has a zip drive, but it seems like it'd just be easier to burn the info on cd, cheaper too

you need a zip nowadays. that's the only way to get stuff back & forth because everyone has a zip drive, but not everyone has a burner. i'm surprised the 1.44 still exists.

well...hmm.....everyone I know has a burner instead of zip drive,
and we use Thumb drive or Q drive to "get stuff back & forth"...

Good deal. And on another note, two different programs have been announced (one is tax related and the other one I can't remember) that will ship on zip disks and be run completely from zip disks so you don't have to install it (AKA short term programs like tax software) and all the data is on it and not your hard drive. Should be interesting.

The Thumb drive and Q drive are TOO EXPENSIVE.
The 16MB Q drive is about the price of this 250MB zip drive.

Is a 1.44 better than a 5.25" 360K??

When most hard drives were under 30MB, many programs ran completely from 3.5" or 5.25" diskettes.
Like you said, it really is a good idea for stuff that you hardly ever use.

Regarding those Thumb and Q drives.. How can they justify $69 for 16mb of memory!! That's horrible.. I'd never buy one.. it's cheaper to hot swap a scsi or buy that USB Hard Drive they have in the stores for around $300 that has 20 gig which gb per dollar is more reasonable than those Thumb Drives..

Any place sells the mounting kit for the zip drives for a decent price ? B&M preferred, however online is ok if shipping is not too bad.

Thanks
