Well, it's definitely official...take a look at this page off of Hotmail's webpage:
http://www.imagine-msn.com/hotmail/en-us/

On the free side..."In addition to all the great features above, coming this autumn for all free Hotmail accounts: Get a 250MB inbox -- FREE. That's over 125 times your current e-mail storage!"

again, for people who got upgraded, did you get an e-mail from Hotmail saying you have been upgraded?

I also just got a gmail account as well as the 250MB upgrade in two (of four) Hotmail accounts.
(One was upgraded about a month ago, the other last week. I've had them for about three years each).

Now I can either:

Put off going through the TONS of SPAM I get in my Hotmail accounts longer without worrying about my accounts' size limits being reached;

or

Have my incoming & outgoing e-mail content scanned by the "GOOGLEBOTS", so that I can get more
"Targeted, Text-Relavent SPAM"!!!

P.S. In response to saxguy, Yes, Hotmail did notify me of the upgrade, both prior to, and at implementation.

I've had my Hotmail acct since '96... Actually, I've been fairly impressed with the reduction of spam on Hotmail. I used to get a ton, and now I don't get more than maybe a dozen a day... Now, if they'd just get me upgraded past 2MB... :)

Just an addendum to my earlier post....I got my hotmail account upgrade like a few days since they started offering it. I've had that account since early 96 before it was sold to microsoft.

Folks, from an email thread with the Hotmail staff... there are TWO HUNDRED MILLION Hotmail accounts. It's taking them a while to convert all the accounts to the higher capacity.

yeah, I also had my account back in 1995 or 1996. My msn account on the other hand I've only had for a year so I have an odd feeling its going to be awhile before it is upgraded. 8/

Even at free... i'm not sure its worth it.

250MB of spam now instead of 2MB? I think I'll stick with Gmail.
