is there an ad for Frys in Austin?

There is, but I can't find it online. Check out Wednesday's ad. Not the one on the back of the sports, but the one inside the front page section.

i had to actually go to frys to get the ad. i guess they dont publish austins frys ads online anywhere.

btw, Austin frys is OOS on the drive.

Sorry for the newbie question -- how easy is it to convert an internal hard drive into an external one by mounting it in an external case? I am interested in this drive, but don't have any additional room inside my computer. Any thoughts or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I am off to Fry's this evening.

Yes, you can buy external USB and Firewire boxes that will accept IDE drives. Be sure the one you buy will handle a drive as big as the one you intend to use.

Here's one example from Outpost.com (Fry's online company). There are others. Be sure the one you buy will handle a drive as big as the one you intend to use and otherwise meets your requirements. 🙂

Call first. If they have one, ask them to hold it for you for a couple of hours, and get on your horse. 🙂

Frys publishes their ad in the Austin American Statesman on Friday. Dunno what section though.

which ibm model was it that broke? 60gxp or 75gxp, i currently own the 180gxp

I bought a Deskstar 40GB 75gxp, which was replaced by IBM with a 60GB 60gxp. That 60GB 60gxp was replaced with a 60GB 120gxp. That model went down, but some reason, I was no longer covered by warranty. Some people have had IBM drives for years and years without a hitch, but I'm personally going to wait awhile before I buy another one.

does anyone know when they're going to have a fry's on the central part of the east coast? I hate seeing these deals all the time!

I would be one of those people ...
I've had a 45 & a 75gb running 24/7 for about 3 years now ... no problem.
My understanding was it was only from a certain batch, from only one of thier factories.

I just got lucky.
