1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Gaming
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
$600-800
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
US, Newegg
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
Intel, Nvidia
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
PSU, HDDs, Input devices
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Yes
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
OC down the road, but default on CPU and minimal on GPU for now.
8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
1920x1200
9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Soon. Mainly in preparation for "big games" coming out later (BF3, Skyrim, I'm sure you've heard the deal) but I'd like to enjoy a new PC for the summer with current games like WoW, TF2, BFBC2, etc. on Max settings.
Just looking for a second (or third or fourth 😛) opinion before I pull the trigger.
It's just an upgrade so I have all of the parts I left out. Everything from Newegg.
COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Combo
-
Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500K
BIOSTAR TZ68A+ LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
-
G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT
EVGA 01G-P3-1460-KR GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Total: ~$650
The only thing I'm kinda iffy about is the motherboard. Is it a good one? I chose it because it was in the combo deal.
Upgrading from:
Core 2 Duo E6400 @2.13 Ghz
4GB RAM
GTX 260
I would just stuff everything into the same case but I'm looking to turn the current computer into one for family use and such.
As far as OC'ing goes: Probably will up the sliders in the EVGA tool a bit when I get it if I even have to. And maybe down the road (1 or 2 years) for the CPU unless I really need extra power. When I was going to do it I would get a better cooler than stock.
Thanks!
