25000 errors using memtest 3.0

i ran 22 passes, and i got 25000 errors, all on test 5 only. what does this mean?? bad memory?? during memtest, it showed that L2 cache was unknown, and L1 cache 128KB. tbredB 1800+.

i did o/c it to run at 1.9ghz(333fsb). but memory is not o/c though, its a pc2700.

Try running without the machine overclocked in any shape form. If you get no errors, they errors are due to overclocking. Once things are stable, you can then start o/cing whatever you want but each time run the test.

If you still get errors without overclocking, the memory is probably bad.

ok, ran my 1800+ stock, and ran my mem at SPD, which was cas 2.5, ddr333. no errors. i also ran my mem at ddr266 with tighter timings, no probs with that too. waht does this mean?? my overclock is not stable?? cuz when i did prime95 for 10 hours, i get no errors.

Read the documentation that comes with the program. It does explain some of this. You didn't say what kind of motherboard/CPU/RAM you're using, but many failures in test 5 is common with NForce2 systems that have been pushed too far.

Yes, your system is not 100% stable when overclocked if it fails memtest (or Prime95, or anything else). I currently have the opposite problem -- memtest looks fine, but Prime95 fails with very tight memory timings.

Since you only have problems with the CPU oced, I'm guessing you're actually getting CPU errors being reported by memtest. It doesn't "know" whether the errors are from bad memory or a CPU that's being pushed too hard. But you may have to experiment more to find out.

i can't change voltages in the bios, no option exists in the bios. and after 10 hours of prime, my cpu o/ced at 1.9ghz (333fsb) peaked at around 45C.

i get memory error only on test5 when i o/c my cpu, but i don't get memory errors at all if i run my memory at tighter timmings than SPD. and i got no errors on prime with o/c cpu, and tight timmings. also looped 3dmark2k1 for 4-5 hours, no probs with it at all.

i could always try diff ram (don't have spare), or diff cpu (have another 1700+ jiuhb in main rig), but im pooped out for the moment
