Hello,
I'm curious about something ,hopefully one of the pros can help. When you oc a 2500+ to a 3200+, how does it really comapre to the p4 of the same speed.
I read somewhere that the 3200+ cpu's aren't really up to par for that speed rating compared to the P4 3.2 cpu.
My question is if the 3200+ aren't up to par where does that leave the 2500+ oc'ed to a 3200 + compared to a P4 of the same speed

/puts on flame suit

a P4 @ 3200 mhz will beat a 3200+ in most all apps and beat it well in memory intensive stuff like video encoding

example: it took me ~33 minutes to encode 4.5 gb of video with a "3200+" and it took me ~22 minutes with p4 @ 3.2

It really depends on what you do. Pentium 4's are faster at the same speed (rating) of AMD XP processors for some tasks and slower at others.

Shady gave you an example of something which the P4 clearly excells at. If you don't do that, then it matters less. You really gotta look at uses and benchmarks, then decide if it is worth the extra cash for the Intel product over AMD. I chose to save $$ cause at the time I bought my XP2500+, it was about half the price of an equivelent P4 2.4C processor, and for the games I play and basic uses, it was the best value.

i agree, it depends. i personally have owned both in the pass. i personally go for the AMD solution since it is a bit cheaper
