too bad AMD's PR rating doesn't mean anything with the release of the 800 mhz fsb cpus

PR = Public Relations!?!

PR= Performance Rating

Jeff 1.85v?

No way is did he kill his CPU, may-b 2.0 and higher..

But hell i bet this 1700+@2.4 will run for years on 1.75-1.80 volts..

Who knows?

:p

That's a common problem with English (or American, at least) abbreviations. Another example: most people say "DSL Line". In either case it's shorter to say but still gets the point across. "PR" could mean a couple of things and "P rating" just sounds stupid...

Could have been worse, could have been a $170 mistake rather than a $50-60 mistake =)

I dont know if mobo readings were correct but cpu showed about 15C idle and 17 under some load...
I dont know though maybe the cpu didn't die cause it died so weirdly ...I was playing Unreal Tournament and then after playing for about 6-7 hours straight....the game stops responding.....so I go welll...rebooot.....so I hold power..5 seconds.....I try turning it on.....It doesn't.....

Have you checked to see that the cooling system is working? I guess it's possible that it could have failed and caused it to overheat.

hope not I think I set it up all nicely....I'll check different cpu...maybe the cpu didn't die or it was ram or mobo, cause the bus speed was like around or close to 500 and my ram was only OCZ PC3200....dont know yet

Have you pulled the chip out yet? Aren't those vapochill systems a pain in the @$$ to take off?

if you have a vapochill... your load temps should be in the negative Celsius range...

15-17Cs sounds like temps from a pelt more so than phase change...

i hope to have a prommy or vapochill one of these days as well on my p4 :)

What were you running a 250 FSB?!??

Why not just run a high Multiplier and set that Ram @ defualt 200 so you are only stressing the CPU?!

so true, my wimpy 2.4ghz overclock isn't limited by my shoddy ram in terms of overclock. my fsb is at 133mhz lol:)

Most A7N8X's are capable of running a 220 Mhz FSB... and with a 12.5 multiplier that gives you 2750 Mhz. Close enough =) 250 was definately a bad choice =)
