250 Dinars - Central Bank of Iraq - pre-war

Just after Desert Storm my uncle (whom was stationed there) sent me a bank note - Two Hundred Fifty Dinars. So this still has Saddam Hussein's face on it.

Is this worth anything now?

Nope. All pre-OIF currency was to be turned in and exchanged for the new Iraqi currency. The stuff that is left over is worth less then the paper it is printed on. In Iraq you can get bundles of the notes for a few USD.

What it is worth to you though is all that matters.

Hang on to it. One day it will be a collectible. You may not live to see it, but some future generation will.

Unlikely. Collectibles are based on rarity. There are millions of those things around, if they're ever going to be worth something it'll be 2,000 years from now.

Well look at some other items that were mass produced, and are now collector's items. Like 60's-70's cars, Baseball cards, etc...

Except that the market was not for the items that were mass produced. It was for the rare cards and the rare cars. 427 Cobra was rare and therefore valuable, 1995 Honda Accords will never be worth jack because there are a billion of them.

Even Mass Produced items will one day have collectible value.

Maybe sentimental value...I kept a few Saddam coins...

But it'll never be worth much

Who wants to be sentimental about a mass murderer?
