25" versus 28"

Low budget monitor battle:

Time for a new monitor. My Westinghouse 20.1 doesn't want to wake up without a lot of buzzing and cycling it on/off.

Micro Center has two contenders.
Hannspree 25" for $170
Negative, it's 16:9. Positive, it's 0.283mm pitch.
I-Inc 28" for $250
Positive, it's bigger, and 16:10. Negative, 0.309mm pitch.

I'd like to keep the 16:10, but if that bigger pixel pitch will become a headache.

Worth the $70 bump for the extra real estate?

Looks like the 25" doesn't have any hdmi inputs, which disqualifies it for me. I'd go the 28". Plus, you know, it bigger 🙂
 
IIRC I remember reading the I-Inc 28" monitor has a relatively high failure rate at about ~1 year.

Unless you need the HDMI audio, you can just attach a cable from your HDMI port to the DVI.

I just bought a 24" 16:10 monitor, and it is HUGE. The 16:10 format is a big plus, but think about if you really need something 28". Sadly, though, the number of low-priced 16:10 monitors is severely lacking.
 
I wouldn't buy either... I had 2 Hannspree (same company as I-Inc AFAIK) 28" and both blew out within a year period, and decided to just buy a different brand.
 
I have the Hannspree 28" and love it and have had it now for about 2 years and no trouble with it. Though they are the same company afaik...the hannspree always seems to cost more than the I-inc so maybe a little better parts? IDK? Personally if I was coming from a 20.1 I would go with a 25" to 26" but pay the extra for a samsung...just my 2 cents. It would be hard to go backwards once you have been to 28".
