Wow, you guys are amazing! I never would've thought of any of these, apparently there are alot of you who are super creative as well as tech-savvy. :) I'll pass the thread results onto my dad tonight and hopefully one will speak to and inspire him.

On a mushy-gushy note, thank you so much for your help. It really means a lot to me, personally. My father always wanted a son but he got 4 girls instead... as a traditional Asian dad, I know that made him sad but all of us girls have tried to make him proud. He was always into software development and computer/internet/technological advances and wish he had son to teach his tech-savvy tricks and development tools to, however none of my sisters or I ever got into it and instead chose career paths in pharmacy, accounting, etc.

He rarely reaches out to us for help and when he does, I panic because I usually don't get it. Thank god for ATOT! I think my dad would trade in me or my sisters for one of you guys in a heartbeat, heh. I'll update sometime tonight or this weekend, as soon as he chooses a name of those suggested. :) Thanks for helping him, I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will be a success!

can you explain exactly what the product does? that description really makes no sense.

does it open excel files, and can save in any of the other formats?

what report does it generate?

what is so powerful about it?

i really have no clue what your dads product does from that description.

manlymatt83 and purbeast0, I'll e-mail him these questions for clarification now and will post his reply asap.

"I need a product and web site name for my new product. This product produces EXCEL, PDF, SQL, ORACLE, DB2, MYSQL, ASP, CSV etc... it can generate the report both in local and web and is very powerful..

ReportAble
-- Can be said both ways, "report able" and "reportable."

Referred to as 'RA" for short, which can be remembered as either the Egyptian God Ra or a cheer or simply the separate letters, "Are Aay"

Some possible slogans:

"No matter where and in which form your data resides, no matter where you wish to package and present it, ReportAble exceeds your needs."

"Stand at the top of the pyramid of data presentation power with RA!"

Your packaging logo:

Another slogan:

"ReportAble for duty!"
or

"ReportAble for data duty!"

Or:

All this gives you multiple "hooks" to help your target audience(s) remember the product in the way that works best for them. :D

Tell your Dad to make that $100 paypal, and that he's still getting off cheap. ;)

www.integratedssr.com
wywiwyg

what you want is what you get

register:
whatyouwantiswhatyouget.com
wywiwyg.com is already registered... you can play around with a variation of it and register that, too, if you want and then just link one to the other.

anyways, you have have the filenames be .wyw files...

use this template: http://www.templates.com/preview/joomla-templates/jt-1039.html
have it be colorful and whatnot because the different file format icons that your dad's product can produce has different colors, too. in the template i posted, you could show screenshots of various formats that can be made, etc, in that header/slider section.

or adaptemplates (include same steps as above, just change name to adaptemplates)

or report chameleon (include same steps as above, just change name to report chameleon)

manlymatt83 and purbeast0, I'll e-mail him these questions for clarification now and will post his reply asap.

Just got his reply via e-mail:

"Okay here is a description of the new product to answer the questions:

The product is a total report generator. Many ASP-db users have given feedback and suggested the following -

* Web report is not easy to implement. General users cannot even access the database server.

* Reports must cover Html, Pdf, Excel, Aspx in both local and Web mode.

* Prefer to have the same code language, text or macro code must work in both local (Winform) and Web (WebForm). User should not have to use different code for the two environment.

* The less computer skill needed, the better.

* Datasources must be totally transparent (Access, Excel, SQL, Oracel, DB2, MySQL, CSV, XML, TEXT). Should be able to load from one source and save it as another. Tables, views, SP must be supported.

* All application files should be generated automatically as much as possible.

* Excel is the most important local tool. Prefer to take Excel sheets to datasource directly. Excel Reports must be totally controlled by code or templates in multiple sheets environment.

I took all the user feedback and developed this product. It will be sold as individual units and also offered to ASP-db users with active maintenance for a one time handling fee (dongle based)."

Hope that helps!

Hurricane, typhoon, cyclone

Cloud is the current IT buzzword, and your dad already used the name tornado for his ASPDb product, so it all fits.

Throw reporter on the end if you want.
