25 Pack Memorex Dual Layer DVD+R DL for $99 at CompUSA

Nice find. I'm truly surprised that DL media is taking so long to come down further.

Still too expensive for me. I sure hope my OEM DL burner works because I don't have any DL media to try it on, LOL.

I will never use it @ $4 a piece, but please post again when the media is under $.75 each.

I know I'll never check out DL at that price. Imagine a failed test burn... $4 down the toilet... lol!

I think I saw a spindle of 50 of them at Fry's for about $150. Don't remember any details but I did a double-take until I realized they were DL media.

Good question. So far, I haven't had any problems with dual layer media on a Toshiba dvd player and an xbox.

We should expect to see cheaper DL media soon as more brands have been coming out recently, makes for better competition to drive the prices down.

Alot of pressed DVDs are dual layer and every DVD player out there should be capable of reading them (assuming they can read +R/-R discs to begin with).

I honestly dont understand why DL media is still so expensive...is everyone not investing in DL and waiting for Blu-ray/HD-DVD?

I bet the mpaa has something to do with it. They don't want people to be able
to do 1:1 copies of their movies. Using d/l media you may even be able
to keep the css intact thereby making it legal under the dmca.

Just a thought.

the manufacturing process for DL recordable media is turning out to be more troublesome than expected. plants are having way higher failure rates, resulting in the higher prices. they said not to expect signifigant price drops for some months yet.

Except it's not the same as a plain old DVD-9. Lots of players seemingly won't read the new DVD-R\DL, but I'll wait for it to become more widespread to draw a conclusion on that.
