I've bought more than 5 spindles so far, and haven't had a failed burn yet on my emprex 4x burner. Everyone has burned @ 4x, and can be read by my regular home dvd player.

Maybe they've gotten bad disks, or are just having problems with their burners (no one that left a negative note says how many successful burns they get with other media)?

It's up to you if you want to try it. IMO, $20 for 25 isn't too bad of a risk.

Been through 2 spindles of 25 now. Only coasters were from my learning curve, about 3 or 4. Since then they all burn perfect and play in my Panasonic home dvd player and in my Playstation II. Oh yea, I'm burning with a Lite-On 411S.
I recommend highly for a 411S. This is a killer deal for me @ $20.00 for 25 blank dvd media. They still had them on the shelf in Tacoma's PC Club as of Thursday 18th Dec. Still $20.00 !

I got some tonight, found one with the worst dye smears i could find and burned a dvd at 4x.

Plays in my player nicely and no issues whatsoever.

Yea I noticed the dye smears on some of them too from PC Club in Tacoma. So I tested with the the worst one I could find as well. Burned 4x, no problems. I need to go buy more before this deal is dead!

Wow, I thought that Dye Smears are a bad thing (defects). Of the 25 I had, the first one (dye smeared) burned fine but wouldn't play on my DVD Player. I then looked at the rest of the batch and found about 12 with really bad smears. I ended up exchanging the spindle for another 25 without any hassle. They let me check each disc in the new spindle before I left....quite nice of them.

So I always thought that dye smears mean the disc is defective? Have you tried playing the discs that are smeared but burned fine? Just curious...

Incidentally the new ones also burn fine and play in that same DVD Player without any trouble at all...

Discs have ALL played in my Panasonic stand alone and kid's Playstaion II no problems. Picked up another spindle tonight at the Tacoma store. They had restocked and had a shiXload on the shelf. (12-23-03)

Anyone know if the Federal Way store has them(Ritek G04) in stock?
I got one at the Federal Way store about a week ago. Talking to the employees, it seemed like these things were selling out the day they came in. Might as well go to Tacoma if you're far enough south.

Sounds good to me. My local store didn't have any, but the guy suggested that I order them online and have them delivered to the store, so I tried that.

Btw, it says the quantity is "Limited" now...

well, burned about 50 of these, some of them 'skip' during movies on players
other than my own reliable apex, not sure if it's the dvd or nero though (used 5.9x and 6.2x I believe)

If you live near a PC Club you can order online for instore pickup and you don't have to pay shipping. They burn well at 4x using the pioneer ao5. They don't play very well (skip actually) in my RCA drs-7000 home player though...

I went through about 100 of these so far. No problem whatsoever on DVD players, XBOX, PS2. ZERO coasters as well. My biggest complaint is of course the ugly orange top.

A PC Club worker told me last month that the deal would end at the end of the year (2003) but guess what? I just called to check and they are still having them at $19.99 with no real clue as to when it'll end. Time for me to re-stock.

Sweet, the deal is back again. I was looking for some more DVD-R's last week, and found that they were selling these for like $39.99. Time to stock up again!

There have been persistent rumors over the past year that that are actually two type of Ritek -- A stock and B stock. Needless to say the A stock is better. Not really sure if this is true, but if you get Ritek in a name brand like Imation, the chance of it being good Ritek is pretty high.
