I got one of these labeled as a dexxa from onvia. It sucks. Sometimes in Half-Life it just hangs and you have to reboot to get it functioning again. A friend with the same mouse has the same problem...

EDIT: just to be clear -- this is the exact same mouse (comparing picture, 5 buttons, etc.)

Dexxa is actually a mouse made by MS, but kinda like the little brother. So that's probably why it sucks.

I remember this deal posted awhile back. I've read bad reviews on this mouse ... my suggestion is pass on this one and get the real thing.

I believe that Dexxa is actually the little brother of logitech, not microsoft. I've had no problems with several Dexxa wheel mice that I got for free a while back from buy.com They work with the logitech mouseware drivers. The dexxa website is dexxa.net

For about $25 you can get a genuine Microsoft optical wheel mouse at Buy.com:
here
For some reason, it's not in their catalog if you try to find it browsing hardware categories. I found it through search for "wheel optical".
I got one for myself: feels like Intellimouse, but is based on optical technology.

Siberian Dude: WAhoOO! Thanks a ton. This is the exact mouse I have on my computer. The Dexxa is on my brothers. This MS mouse rocks -- I like the shape, etc. I did notice it gets a little small for my huge hands after 8+ hours of mousing.

Some people said this MS mouse failed a lot but I've had no problems except the left mouse button seems to be getting slightly funky (like the internal plastic catch bits are wearing down a tad).

Good mouse.

Just buy the Intellimouse optical for $25.95 shipped overnight from outpost.com. Don't have to worry about the quality.

They have it listed as the Wheel Mouse Optical and it's on preorder right now, but trust me, it's the new Intellimouse optical (ambidextrous one). They got a shipment in a week ago and that's when I got mine. I guess they ran out of stock. It's nice and I used flooz to get it for $10.

Why not just go to Best buy and get the Microsoft Optical mouse for $24.99 no shipping charges! :)

I agree with Nutcase99. I just got one of these at BB for my laptop. Works great! Nice precise tracking. A little lighter than I'd like, but the wheel is quite a bit better than the older Intellimice with balls.

Yeah, I owned the Kensington version of this generic mouse. It sucked! The extra buttons on the sides "jiggled" whenever my fingers brushed against them. It felt very low quality. After a week, the left mouse button started "loosing its grip" (meaning that If I clicked and dragged on something, it would let go of it half way through the drag).

The picture makes it look nice, but, it's cheap.

I returned it today (to Buy.com) and went and bought the Microsoft version @ Best Buy for $24.99. I like it A LOT better. My only gripe on this one is the wheel is a bit loose (not as firm as even the Kensington..and I like firm).

:p

Thats a Kensington mouse.. its a little smaller than the microsoft one, and its shaped a little differently.. not as much of a contour to your hand..

Damn. Ok, I have one of these Microsoft mice. I got it about 4-5 months ago. Been very happy. Know what happens? Day after I post above it DIES! I hope Microsoft replaces it. I heard these were a tad flakey but I didn't believe it. Still might be an odd fluke. Here's to hoping so.
