I've heard that this sale is only going to be on Previously viewed VHS and Previously played video games. No DVD's. Maybe it's another regional thing?

in a moment of 3am insanity, i started peeling the security stickers off all my blockbuster previous rentals. I did the first one by just starting peeling carefully and it worked ok. On the next one, I ran it under hottish water and it came off much easier. So I started doing the rest, sticking them in the sink to soak. This was probably a bad idea cuz on the next one "Thirteen Days" the silkscreen started peeling off with the label but I was too far on the label to go back, so I peeled it the rest of the way off. However, the disc seems to play fine. The rest I didn't presoak and was more careful and it worked ok. Another anomaly was my Hanibal discs which had stickers intended for Playstation games instead of movies, and those have much better glue, you can't get them off clean, don't even try.

Anyhow, now all my discs (cept the hannibal ones) are stickerless and all play fine. I'm not sure if I would use the water method again since the water got in between the layers near the hub and I went through alot of trouble drying it out. It doesn't seem to penetrate beyond the inner part of the hub since the layers are sealed together with the ring about 1cm in from the center. A hair dryer might work ok but you'd need two people, one to hold the dryer and another to peel.

But, my fingers were raw and sore the next day.. 🙂

latest deal on previewed stuff is buy 2, get 1 free.... see blockbuster's website, expires 7/6/02. feel free to start another thread with this if you wanna.

That's a good deal too. I just picked up Hannibal and was going to buy Traffik too. Each was $10. Guess I'll have to take it back and get 2 more to go with it. 🙂

Here is a trick for those PESKY stickers.

Whip out the old hairdryer and set it to low. Let it blow on the sticker for a short bit to heat up the glue. It will "melt" the glue a little and make it loose. I then use an XACTO knife to peel up a corner of the label and slowly peel it completely off. Apply more hot air from the hair dryer where needed. Sticker and glue come right off for me, np.

Just be careful not to "heat" things up too much and risk warping the DVD.

****DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK AS I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DAMAGE YOUR DVDs. THIS IS MY ONLY WARNING!!!!****
