It might be that retail sales in general, and back to school events right now, are a bit more sluggish than expected given the news flow on tv.

Consumers have more capability to spend than last year, but are cautious and event driven (need reason to spend).

Its not unheard of. Last year there was an emailed 10% off up to $50 max. Was a quick way for them to get me to spend $500 that I had been putting off.

Newegg only sends out coupons for stuff AFTER you've already purchased the things you need (then like the same week they send you those secret email only coupons for the same things you just bought). Leaves a bad taste in your mouth after awhile.

Rofl, I noticed that, not sure if it's intentional, or just a coincidence. I think I've bought RAM from newegg twice and both times they sent me a huge mailer with % off coupons that included RAM. Gee, thanks, couldn't you have sent me the coupon just a couple of days early?
