About two months ago I received a message that a software update was available for my car. Following instructions I tried to install it several times but was never able to complete the procedure. After a few failed attempts I received a message, "Installation unsuccessful. See dealer".
Car was due for an oil change so I was off to the dealership. I mentioned to the service rep about the failed software installation. He said the reason it failed because "There isn't any update. Honda never issued one." Strange. I asked him to have the tech stop the daily messages to "see the dealer." He didn't, and it still persists. Anyone know anything about this? Thank you.

Absolutely hate these kinds of issues... I would think there would be a way to reset or clear any of the notifications via the car's infotainment system but wouldn't be surprised either if that's not the case. The very anti-consumer "must go to dealer" for every little thing is infuriating.

You might have some luck asking around on Honda-specific forums or trying to pull up a service manual. AFAIK Honda doesn't make these publicly available, but dedicated groups have scanned and uploaded them in the past. Good luck!
