I have a Que DVD-ROM that is a Samsung rebadge, and I must say I am not impressed. It is an OK drive, not terrible and not spectacular. It's ok. The 16x deals started almost IMMEDIATELY after I bought my 12x drive 7 months ago, and I just bought a 24x (Lite-On deal at OD) and sold my 12x.


So the moral of the story is, there will be a CDRW deal for you if you wait long enough. What's next? UltraATA 100 CDRW's? I think they are trying to pump as much life into CDRW before DVD-R takes over, which is OK as long as I can buy a fast DVD-R for $50.00 AR soon.

i like my 16x samsung just fine ($49 if wheresmydoggonerebate sends me my thirty dollar rebate), i have sold almost all of the 24x lite-ons. when people were getting lite-ons instead of plextors in the creatives and iomegas in hot deal, people in this forum WERE CRYING LIKE A BABY.
people only think what they can think, not that they ACTUALLY KNOW ANYTHING.

avoid samsung like the plague, its buffer underun protection is not advanced like other burner such as liteon where it will adjust speed depending on media quality so you don't get a bad burn. i'm frustrated with samsung because you have to guess what speed to burn with any media and most likely you get corrupted CD

Lite-On 24X is fast. I burned a 648MB CD in about 3:30 on cheap Dysan CD-Rs.

i have this burner myself and it can't burn any media correctly that is not 24x certified. let say you try to burn a 8x media at 8x, it will not be readable or corrupted. I dunno what I gonna do with it, maybe toss it out the windows and get a liteon instead where everyone is bragging?
