We’re currently investigating an issue related to the forum theme and styling that is impacting page layout and visual formatting. The problem has been identified, and we are actively working on a resolution. There is no impact to user data or functionality, this is strictly a front-end display issue. We’ll post an update once the fix has been deployed. Thanks for your patience while we get this sorted.
Basically, you slipstream all the updates on to one DVD, and your good to go. (There was a program that did this for you, but, I forgot the name of it.)
No idea about how activation is done these days for XP.
You should still be able to use WSUS Offline Updater, just have to make sure that you use and older one that they have the xp support in. thing version 9.0 or so was the last that did.
Or the on in the linked article, but I have never used that one, but one I have used on occasion is WUD Windows Update Downloaded (http://www.windowsupdatesdownloader.com/) just grab the program and the Update List and it should get you all of the updates
