2405 or 2005

Hey all... I'm gonna be going off to college this year and I'm assembling a new computer. I need to make a decision on which monitor, between the 2405 and 2005, to buy. I don't watch too much TV, but if I get the 2405 I won't bother to bring a TV along, and also I'll be doing a bit of DVD watching on it if I do purchase it. If I get a 2005, I think I'll bring a TV. Price isn't that big of a factor, as I currently sold my moped and made some $$$ 🙂 Please lead me in the right direction

I'm in the same dilemma as you. I dont know which one to buy either. I'm leaning toward the 2405 because of its has a native 1080p resolution.

Yea I'm somewhat leaning towards the 2405as well. The recent price drop makes it more appealing than before too, but I just don't know for sure 🙁

Yep, 24" all the way, forget the TV... it will make more sense in your dorm room anyway. Plus, pick up a decent set of 5.1 speakers and an Audigy2 and you will be able to watch DVD's in dolby-digital decoded goodness to your hearts content 🙂 Plus, the 24" has component inputs if you decide to get a xbox360 or something similar....

If you do any gaming, remember you'll have to have a pretty good graphics card to play at the native resolution of the 2405. I'm assuming that if you do game, you have a pretty good setup 😛

I would get the 2405 in that case. I have the 2005, and I'm more than satisfied with it, but I definitely would have done the 2405 if money was no concern.

Hmm... my mom is strongly pushing for me not to "waste" my money on "the latest and greatest tech", or something like that... I guess I'll just go with the 2005 so I don't piss her off...

Well, that 2405FPW has been around for a while and will continue to be out for a while, and it probably won't get much cheaper and isn't plagued by the quality problems the 2005fpw is, I would really try for the 24".
