Jack isn't leaving. They just set up the beginning of next season, with Jack in China tracking down Audrey's killers... only to find out she's alive in some Chinese prison! Much killing ensues.

the show is called 24, not jackbauerSavestheworld.com

so theorectically, they can replace him w/anyone else, and the show premise is still there

how how often does a show last after the main star is replaced? (look at xfiles)
 
He's still on for a couple of seasons. After that, I highly doubt I'll watch it if they continue to make the show.
