(Edit: but by no means did I make anything like that in my 20's. I'm 37 now)

$100k is a nice income, but not as uncommon for 20-somethings as a lot of people might think. I work with probably two dozen 20-somethings that make more than that. Just have to have marketable ability and the ability to market it.

I actually don't really have much an ego, and I really shouldn't have said what I said. It's tacky. I apologize.

Getting a $100,000 job with a master's degree in engineering or something and some experience shouldn't really be that hard.

The tag says you ended your ego after the first sentence, yet it seemed to go on throughout your post. 😛

And from what I remember, you have a frugal spirit. I don't mean cheap mind you; rather, more value-driven. Great combination, imo.

Nah, I'm CHEAP! 😀
Remember, from November 2004 to December 2005, I spent a total of $18.xx on stuff that I didn't need (two sticks of ram). Well, I did pay off the house and car! 😀

Yes sir, I do remember! I think I antagonised you a little as well, but that's all in the past 😉 I need to be more frugal...
Alas, recent research from benefits consulting firm Hewitt Associates shows that fewer than a third of your compadres -- that is, workers age 18 to 25 -- who are eligible for a 401(k)-type plan actively participate in it. You do not want to be part of this group -- at least not if you want to retire comfortably, and certainly not if you want to have any hope of early retirement.

This is very sad. I know some can't afford it, but many can and just don't. The 401k is the private account (for now) that can take the place of SS and people just don't use it to it's full advantage. Such a shame.

You are probably in the top 1% or better of wage earners in our age group (I'm 26).
Even a new lawyer at a top law firm only (!) makes $100K to $125K.
It's ok, you mention it in every income thread. 😀Originally posted by: Descartes

100K is fairly standard for mid 20's people in NYC.

At least he isn't as bad as Engineer...I'm tired of hearing about the house and the car. 😉
