man i would love to get one of these things.. but a 95lb monitor is not something i want to move around and worry about it breaking and falling through my $30 desk from good will and smashing onto my knees.

Couple recent pics I took:

FW900 sitting on my desk.

I wanted to see how lower resolutions looked and was very pleased with the results

Half life 2 running at 1280x800

Gotta love CRT resolution flexibility.

Is the aspect ratio of the monitor 16:10 or 16:9? If it's a 1920x1200 screen, it's 16:10, and 16:9 1080i video clips should have small black bars.

It's 16:10 ,what I meant was I actualy set the monitor to 1920x1080 res, the aspect wasnt correct (slightly stretched look) but there were no black bars, when you run 1080i clips with the monitor set at the proper 1920x1200 you do see small black bars.

Tick tock....slow arse DHL shipping from MA. 2005FPW arrived before it and I ordered the LCD on Friday evening. I bought the CRT from the ebay guy almost a week ago.

I have not bought one (yet), but I am looking at this same seller on ebay for this exact monitor. The great reviews have me salivating and I will be ordering one by the C.O.B. Friday.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their input in this thread...going to make me very very happy 😀

The seller shipped mine the next morning but it took alittle over a week to get here,it had to travel 3,200 miles via DHL ground delivery (from Lawrence MA to California) , I was a bit concerned about it traveling that far via ground but it arrived in great condition with no picture quality issues.

Well, that makes me feel a little better. The reason for the question is that the email w/ tracking # is on my old (read: dead) computer and it will be a week Monday and I live in Texas, so.....

That helps. Thanks! Man I can't wait to check this baby out!

Yeah, it took me over a week to get my FW900. It wish he didn't ship DHL, but it was packed so well I doubt they could have damaged the monitor if they tried. (which they probably did)

I've been using one of these new I got from Dell 3 years ago. No longer made and the nicest monitor ever. Mine is still working great.

I run at 1600 x 1024 for everything. I didn't like the recommended higher res. Had to use Powerstrip to force the resolution on my ATI card, but now it's in memory. Only have to add it again after driver updates with a couple clicks in Powerstrip.

This monitor is just sweet though.

I sooooo can't wait to get this. "Should" be here by Wednesday, if not sooner! 🙂

The Skirt just called and said that it's here!!!

Can not wait to get home tonight now. Me thinks I'm going to have to hunt around for the driver that gives you almost unlimited resolution options...anyone have the link handy?

Do not rejoice just yet, young SirfelixCat. Your greatest trial still lies before you...
That is to say, you better be strong should you hope to carry that crazy mofo of a monitor into your computer room without help! >_<

wohoo, mine came today, did take 7 days but i couldnt be happier. i got the sony branded one and it looks excellent and functions flawlessly. i cant get over how good need for speed most wanted looks at 1900x1280. i was very happy with the condition of the monitor, maybe 2 small scratches. cant understand why i didnt go widescreen sooner, now i just need 2 of the 7800gtx 512mb for sli, teheheh, im pushing this 7800 gtx to the limit running at 1900x1280 in game but damn does it look good.

1920x1200* (16x10)

I don't know what 1900x1280 is.

One thing I like about the FW900 is that if your video card can't handle 1920x1200, you can game in 1280x800 or even lower 16x10 ratios. You can't do that with a 2405, lest you like terrible scaling. You NEED a l33t video card for such a high end LCD. You can get away with it using even an older card on the FW900. Thank god for versitile tube resolutions!

This is EXACTLY the reason I'm buying a FW900 rather than an LCD. Of yeah - and the whole "costs half as much" thing.

It's in the comp room already...it's the lifting onto the desk part that I'm dreading, but really, come on...all the awesome reviews of this thing makes it SOOOOO worth it me thinks 🙂

Do most of these monitors seem to be in excellent condition as far as the image quality and sharpness goes? I'm thinking about getting one of these.
