No, but you'll pay an extra 10% without one.

EDIT: which means you may as well pony up for a membership, as the extra 10% on this item is nearly the same as a personal 1-year membership.

I bought this monitor last October I believe. Well the price is good, expect ghosting shortly after buying it, and faint lines running from the top left to the bottom right. And I know for a fact after scrounging around on the web that this is not an isolated case. The 1 year warranty should tell you something.

If you are lucky enough to live in Austin you can pick them up at the Sam's South on interstate 35. No other ones have them. I'm grabbing mine tomorrow. My 42" Westinghouses have taken constant gaming and TV for well over a year, and $299 is cheap. I have to go to Sam's anyway.

I was looking at this panel for a time, seriously eying it.

It's a panel lottery.

Bought 2 of these.

One is gorgeous, rivals my Dell 2407-HC, better in gaming (little to no ghosting at 70FPS at 1900x1200).

On the other the digital input burnt out, getting replaced under warranty

Honestly, I would not buy the monitor again after seeing what alot of people are reporting, and having experienced a failure myself.

Many other 24inchers are dropping in price. Search www.slickdeals.net-but then again, they probably rip info from this board!

Happy hunting.

I'm have great luck so far with my Soyo 24". The Westinghouse does look a lot nicer (appearance-size) though, and since you're buying it a Sams Club you can always return it if it has issues.

Same here, The other big difference between the soyo and the westing is HDCP and HDMI for those wanting to hook up their consoles to this monitor.

One detail, if it's the same model I'm thinking of, that when connected via HDMI, this model won't seem to power-down/sleep. You have to turn it off manually.

Just thought I'd mention it.

All I can say is WOW!!!. I just got this LCD in today thinking this is going to be $300 down the toilet for buying a LCD w/o first observing it in action as no place in my town stocks it. That is the first time I ever purchased a LCD in such manner.

No dead pixels.
Very wide viewing range.
Minimal power consumption ( 115V @ 1.6A = 184W ). This will cut quite a chunk out of my electric bill compared to my ancient 17" LCD I replaced since my computer is on nearly 24/7. The OP has to be wrong @ 110W max.
Very good color, I did not even have to mess with the color tuning. It plugged right in and was on the money.

2 drawbacks.
No DVI input(s)
Heat output. I swear if I were to put two eggs taped on top of the vents. I would have 2 hard boiled eggs in about an hours time. How does a monitor that draws so little juice producing so much heat is really beyond me.

I can not comment on sound quality. I do not have the built in speakers plugged in. My computer is plugged into a home amplifier unit with 200amps of juice going to all 6 speakers.

I must say. I am biting myself for not ordering 2 of them. My kids have a tendency of leaving the television on in the living room when they go out to play. This sucker would take another chunk out of my power bill if it were to replace the 28" TV down there not to mention the time I have that TV on when I watch my shows.

Great find OP.

Wow 200 amps! Do you have your own personal nuclear reactor to power that amp?

I got the 26" version at sam's for 399, anyone know if that's also a non-TN?

BTW, I know that non-TN's are better, but what exactly does that mean versus a "TN?"

Thanks

Read this thread, specifically section I. Skip up a bit and go over section iii before that one if you want some of the more technical details on the various differences and technologies.
