i totally forgot what happened...the president and graham (jacks brother) and his associates gave nerve gas to the Russians so that they could use it in Russia, and then the Russians got mad when they gave away the plot to kill the Russian president and they used it in the U.S.A.?

They [Americans] were going to have it detonated in the Terrorists camps when it got to Russia. The terrorists thought they would get it to Moscow. But the terrorists found out the Americans were playing them for chumps, and spent the rest of the day using it here in LA.

As far the Russian President - that was just a minor part of it. The terrorists said "If you give use the Russian President's car route, we will not use the gas on the Americans." It sort of just came up in the story line - was never the original plan for the terrorists.

The terrorists were seperatists (I believe Muslim)

In an early episode, one of the terrorists by the name of Erwich was suspicious after seeing his truck driver (who was a plant working for the Americans) go inside a storage container which contained several gas canisters. Presumably Erwich went in after the truck driver had overridden the settings on the gas canisters and left. Once he figured out what had happened, the truck driver was tortured and killed.
