Jack Bauer is passing the torch stopwatch.

Fox is developing a 24 spinoff that would revolve around a new twentysomething male terrorist hunter, , franchise overlord Howard Gordon confirmed to TVLine Sunday at the Critics Choice Television Awards

While there are no current plans for Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack to appear, it’s entirely possible his iconic character could pop in and out on a guest-star basis.

The project would find the new male antihero working alongside an older, more seasoned female agent (not Yvonne Strahovski’s Kate Morgan, although she also may also appear). It would also launch as a limited series, similar to last year’s acclaimed 24: Live Another Day, but I’m told the offshoot could easily become a long-term property for Fox.

24: LAD vets Manny Coto and Evan Katz will serve as writers and EPs.
Last month, Gordon told Yahoo TV that the spinoff would maintain the “real-time concept” and that the story “is in the tradition of 24.”
Not sure how it would make sense for Jack to make appearances on the show, even if they would cross paths, it would seem odd that they aren't working on the same thing.

Kiefer was probably the biggest thing I didn't like about 24. His dad is a very good actor, Kiefer not so much.

No Jack, no Chloe, no want.

Even the original kind of fell apart at the end. You can only keep up that frenetic pace for so long until it becomes a childish mash-up of noise, explosions and car chases that even Michael Bay would find gratuitous. The idea behind 24 was brilliant, but it wore out its welcome quickly.

this.

It was already a really dumb and pointless show by season 6, but I still watched. 7 and especially 8? were actually pretty good, imo. but that kinda show has a real shelf life.

I was stoked when, during the Superbowl, that add for the 12 episode return series popped up--Jack, fire and explosions, Chloe..I got a nerd boner. ...but that show was pretty much unwatchable after 2 episodes. The "magic" was gone and the formula and the overriding theme of this series just didn't make any sense in the post-bin Laden world.

Well, the time has almost come for 24:legacy, it is after the Superbowl.
Then, on Monday, it falls into the normal time slot, followed by the new show APB.

Then they will do a repeat of the 1st 24 episode + APB on Saturday.

I hope it takes off. It's crazy 24 took us through the entire Bush years.

It looks pretty awful and main actor who played Dr. Dre on Straight Outta Compton is a terrible actor.

When is the superbowl?

u mean the new face of 24 isn't her?

wonder why they decided to nix that idea?
She was practically set up to be jack bauer's replacement on the show

I'll definitely watch it cause I was a 24 fan but man, I will miss mah boy Jack. Unless the new guy is something special and the writing is excellent, I have a feeling I'll stop watching after a few episodes. :cryingcat:

not even going to waste my time watching it until reviews come in.

w/o jack, don't care about 24 much, esp being drunk after superbowl

I gave it a shot since I always liked 24. It was alright. It's just hard to care about anyone at all since it's all new characters. I'll check it out tonight as well and see where it goes.

I liked it (granted the bar wasn't very high)...will definitely watch a few more episodes...

I still remember the Zim H threads every monday night...it would have 200-300 posts by the end of the episode...

I thought it was OK. Man CGI bullet holes annoy me. I'm in for at least a few more episodes. Main character seems alright so far but it's only been one episode in so it's pretty ridiculous to draw much conclusions about him from it.

Unattractive female leader is a good replacement for unattractive Chloe. I didn't really feel "hooked" by the show, but I'll give it a couple more episodes maybe.

It was slightly better then I expected. I have to say though that I've been spoiled by streaming services with NO commercials.
