24 - If Jack Bauer goes "evil" next season, will you still root for him?

Obviously the end of this season's 24 leaves a lot of possibilities for next season. One of which is Jack Bauer getting angry (well that's an understatement) at the U.S. government for sacrificing him to China after all he did to save the U.S. If Jack Bauer were to go against the U.S., even if it's a corrupt US Government, would you still root for him?

I'm actually curious if the writers of 24 would even consider going this route. I fully expect this poll to be a landslide in Yes votes. However, making Jack "evil" could be a ratings killer, despite this.

The last epidode of this season showed last week. The title is ambiguous enough anyways that it doesn't reveal much as to plotlines.

I don't think Jack will ever go evil. If he really wanted to screw the government he wouldn't have faked his death and left everything he knows behind. I have a hunch things are going to get ugly when they investigate his death and its going to get back to the current President. Then Palmer will have some cards to play.

you whine too much :p
interesting scenario
i think palmer runs for reelection... for some crisis, tony and michelle are forced to contact jack to get his intell.. then palmer would have to decide how to deal with the situation as other politicians might be involved too.

I thought he was already evil, circumventing the Constitution and our basic protected rights to get results:p

Yeah, I doubt it's likely. However, IIRC, I read an article somewhere that said that viewership last season (season 3) was down bigtime, partially because Jack was not on US soil for a lot of episodes, and I guess this turned people off.

So I don't know if they'd have Jack being Jack in a different country, or maybe bring Jack back to the US, and then if so, he could arguably be a bad guy, since fans love him so much regardless.

Yes, I'd still root for him. (Obviously :p)

Jack, I'm a coming to save youuuuuuuuuuuuu

EDIT: You may want to put "spoilers" in the title, cuz you are giving a lot away for people that haven't finished Season 4 yet.

If anyone here thinks they would make a good actor/actress, simply screaming NOOOO like you mean it would be the best test...

I don't think I'm giving a lot away. At the end of practically every season, Jack has experienced something dramatic that could put him over the edge. Heck, after season 1, the last episode, I wondered if Jack would turn. The beginning of season 2 showed a disgruntled Jack Bauer who didn't want to do CTU work anymore.

No because the fearless RRR FLLs will shut down the show for supporting terrorists and being anti-American

I think Kiefer Sutherland has rediscovered he is marketable as an actor and has bigger fish to fry.

I think his days as Mr. 24 are over and will more or less be phased out, to be replaced by someone else.

jack reminds me of Snake from Metal Gear for some reason...I would cheer for him regardless of what side he's on.
